Saturday Nights in the ‘Hood

When we moved into our new home a few months ago it was the dead of winter. Sure, we liked the looks of the neighborhood but what about the people who lived in all those pretty houses?  We had no clue and hoped for the best. Fast forward through spring when a neighbor brought us cookies, many hours spent at the pool meeting new faces and doing something that is so rare for me- joining a committee, the neighborhood social committee (gasp! avert your introvert eyes!) and suddenly we were making friends and falling in love with a community and not just a group of houses joined together by a set of property lines.  Our latest get together was a Saturday night Cornhole tournament, something I've never done, but had a lot of fun helping set up and then playing. Pre-fall Seven to 7 Wedge Bootie

I'm going to fully admit that I'm over this whole shorts and sandals, tanks and swimsuits thing.  I'm ready for distressed denim and boyfriend jeans with sweaters and scarves and all of it!  I want cool, crisp breezes drifting through my windows versus slamming into a wall of humidity but I won't complain anymore than that because I have these cute Rockport Seven to 7 Wedge booties to get me through.  They are totally bringing me out of my funk.   … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wedensday- Sunshine & Rays

I write this on another day of school closures due to even more snow. It is safe to say that the dose of brilliant sunshine I just had was just what the doctor ordered. Time to get away and let go of the daily grind is always needed. I love tiny trips like this so much because it is often the best time for me to let go of emails, work deadlines and let my brain just go wherever it needs to without distraction. The best ideas often come from these trips. While H was in seminars and break-out sessions I was sleeping in, running by palm trees and reading magazines that were previously in a holding pattern on my nightstand.
