Cinco de Mayo Inspired Looks

Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner.  If you are like us you like to host parties during the warmer months when you can get out and enjoy the best of the outdoors and party spaces you create inside your four walls.  H and I decided that we would hold a Cinco de Mayo party this May to change up last years 'Celebrate Summer Water Balloon Fight' party or the previous years housewarming. I'm already planning what to wear. Oh, and the menu and decorations too but what to wear.... it sets the tone, right? Whatcha Wearing Wednesday: Stripes and Leopard for Spring

Stripes and leopard. It's all about mixing prints and patterns and it isn't as hard as you think. Spring is a great time to experiment. Think about matching a floral pencil skirt with a stripe shirt. Still not sure? Here's an easier way. Start with neutral colors like black, white and navy if you are feeling skittish and work from there. I took my neutral leopard heels and paired them with my tried and true black ankle pants and a new striped shirt I picked up from J.Crew Factory. The stripe shirt gets and update with the ruffle added to the sleeve. Ruffles are really big this spring. Wearing a navy blue multi-strand necklace adds a hint of color while also staying in the neutral zone. I felt like this look was both fresh and classic.  It's updated with the ruffles and has an … [Read more...]

Fabletics March Picks: Brights

Fabletics made my activewear dreams come true this month. Fabletics March Pick of Brights was spot on for me.  I love green leggings.  I don't know why but I can't deny it.  I have a dark green pair but I wanted that bright bit of color for spring.  They did not do me wrong! Fabletics Albury: Salar Capri/Eunice Tank/Amna Sports Bra Perfect for running, yoga or any other type of workout the Salar Capri pants are flattering and wear well after repeated use.  I love that the weather will soon be warm enough to wear capri leggings again too. I own two other pairs of Salar capris and I always reach for them when I work out.  I love the fine mesh on this white 'Eunice' tank and the green detail in the back.  The Amna sports bra has black mesh in the straps and molded cups for a good fit … [Read more...]

Lazy Sunday

You need a lazy Sunday. I need a lazy Sunday. We all need one! The weather dropping to lows this week and doing insane snow things has made us all want to put on some cozy clothes and warm socks and just snuggle in for a spell.  Shopbop Finds: Monrow Sweatshirt and Boyfriend Sweatpants/Hanky Panky Signature Lace Bralette/Cashmere Socks (similar)/Necklace/Rings/Tom Dixon 'London' Candle I've been busy and in full comfort mode when it comes to clothes.  Unless I have to be out of the house and representing my business I am all about utility and practicality.  That means the activewear stays on longer, slip on sneakers are my BFF and sweatshirts are my JAM! I'm straight up OBSESSED with this one  because it is so soft. Plus, if I pull the hood up I can write and be all Evil … [Read more...]

What Goes Around Comes Around: The Choker

Ah, the choker.  How I loved them.  Back in the mid-90's! Oh yeah- Pearl Choker from Prom 1994 and Winter Dance 1993.  Because what is old is new we have this latest trend that was even seen on Erin Andrews during the Super Bowl. Source: Fox Sports Each time a trend comes back around again, the choker included, it gets tweaked.  Initially, I was all, "Nope, not gonna do it." I was over it.  It wasn't one I wanted to repeated.  Then I saw these from Shopbop and capitulated. I really love it with simple necklines.  Pair it wish a straight neckline and blazer like Erin or peeking out from an open collar. Meet my new favorite chokers.  No more black ribbons, no pendants.  No crafting included.  Just pure gold.   The Choker Trend by victoriamason featuring a choker … [Read more...]

Real Mom Style with Momma in Flip Flops

Real Mom Style. Someone recently told me that was my focus when I mentioned the lingerie post I was doing. I guess that's me but Real Mom Style belongs to Andrea from Momma in Flip Flops. If you don't know, now you know, right? I love Andrea and not just because her smile is infectious and she offers practical, everyday style that won't break the bank, but because she lays down some serious knowledge when it comes to the reality of being a mom of five who is likes to stay fit (she's back on running!) and is the most stylish nursing mom I know. Exhibit A: Her styling of items from instyledress is perfection. This leopard print top is also a maternity item but you wouldn't necessarily know that right away. I love that about how Andrea works her wardrobe. Exhibit B: This … [Read more...]

What I Wore: Instagram Style

What I wore: Instagram version because I am F-O-C-U-S-E-D. Focused.  Goals mapped out.  Vision board created (yes, really), accomplishment notebook and pages are being written.  I'm busier and quieter than ever, social media-wise, but I'm feeling good.  I'm excited again and that in and of itself is motivating! Lunch with a friend and a side of networking.  Practiced my staging skills for flips too. It ended up being too warm for even the trench coat but I was overjoyed that I could drag it out of the closet. I adore this trench.  I have bought a few in the past and while I like them they don't have the liner, the shape and perfect khaki color that this one from Uniqlo possesses. Work out and get to work.  Those are my days now.  5-6 days a week I'm sweating to feel better … [Read more...]

Rent the Runway

I've used Rent the Runway quite a few times and it has never failed me. Whether it is a gala, cocktail party or last minute request their selection and customer service has always been on point. Even when a dress or two hasn't been available to me they have reached out via phone and email to make sure I was happy and offer up items that might work for me.  When that hasn't worked they have allowed me to choose multiple dress styles and various sizes to compensate at no additional cost. When H announced his winter work party would be in a week I had to fire up my Rent the Runway account again.  I chose a basic black lace dress by Nicole Miller. It has a long sleeves, which is perfect for Janauary temps, and the nude lining underneath holds you in to create a nice line.  After a busy … [Read more...]
