Summer Dresses & Finds

While I know many of us have gone through a shopping frenzy that last week with the Nordstrom Anniversary (Access to the general public begins Friday July 21st, and the NSale is over Sunday August 6th) sale, I purchased a Caslon blazer and Lush blouse because tried and true classics are always a steal. But then I went on a bender of sorts at SheIn.  I haven't shopped there in here so long and with an upcoming beach weekend looming I wanted some cute, fun items that wouldn't break the bank. A Straw Bag for Summer

There's no denying that the straw bag is BIG when it comes to summer.  Whether you tote it to the beach or find a cute straw clutch; the straw bag is the bag for when summertime hits.  My latest straw bag has a story and one that makes me cherish it all the more. Not my latest straw bag but a cute one all the same. Last month my Mom visited and as she was getting ready to leave she handed me this butterfly straw bag.  I told her how cute I thought it was and she told me how she wanted me to have it.  It was the last birthday present my grandmother, her mother, had given her.  I knew instantly that I would keep it forever and use it with care. For every day I think the butterfly straw bag looks cute with a simple set of shorts and a tank.  Add a delicate pendant with a set of … [Read more...]

Celebrate the Little Things

The Fourth of July is almost here and it is time to celebrate the little things! Like cute striped dresses from my most recent Trunk Club box or the fact that I think the fog of illness I've been dealing with most of this month has finally lifted.  That right there, is REALLY a reason to celebrate. This cocktail dress was so spot on that I squealed the minute I opened the giant Trunk Club box and laid eyes on it. Not going to lie but this month has been hell.  I'm looking trimmer than before but that is what extreme pain and meds that take away your appetite will do.  I would not wish the "lyme disease/pain diet" on anyone.  This illness, which we think we caught early enough, if all caps FUNKY.  It makes you depressed and irritable because the pain is so strong and the fatigue … [Read more...]

Welcome with Black & White

This weekend we had our housewarming party.  After weeks of working on small projects, finalizing a menu and looking for affordable portaloo costs we were set to welcome our friends and have a good time.  Not a single photo was taken.  I kind of can't believe that.  It will now exist in the fuzzy realm of my memory.  It was a whirlwind and a totally good time. I was so busy prepping and planning I forgot to pick out something to wear.  In a last minute frenzy I threw on this black and white pairing.   Black and White Summer Combo by victoriamason featuring greek sandals J.Crew Factory Colorblock Tank Top/J Crew Factory Black Chino Shorts (white)/Kate Spade Crystal Pave Studs/Gold Necklace (similar)/Mossimo Gladiator Sandals (similar) (similar) I went back and forth a … [Read more...]

Converse Two Ways

Let's face it. I run around a lot with my kids. I work in the wee hours of the morning and then for a few hours before they leave for school I'm in full Mom-mode. I work a few more hours and then it is back into that mode by mid-afternoon. As much as I love a life beyond flats and low-heeled shoes it just doesn't happen all that often. I love how Lindsey from The Pleated Poppy always shows off her white low-top converse kicks. I might have to finally pick up a pair for the summer which I'm determined will be more laid back fun than me asking for time to work as the kids do "busy" activities. The days of the girls being small and wanting to be around me and H are fleeting. I should soak them up with as much summer sun, long days and time by the water as much as I possibly can. So bring … [Read more...]
