Summer Secrets by Jane Green

It's the summertime! For those of us who like to devour books by the day or week that can mean only one thing. SUMMER BEACH READS! If you are dying for a great read while you are vacationing or just taking a little weekend escape then I have a wonderful read for you. Summer Secrets: A Novel by Jane Green. Straight up, I read it as fast as I could last week before we left for the Fourth. In fact, H was packing up to leave and I was still lying on the bed trying to finish up the last few pages before we headed out.  It was worth it.  I couldn't put it down.  It was light enough to be enjoyable while sitting on my porch or by the pool but had depth and detail in the story to keep me rooting for the characters. Summer Reading List

  Summer is one of the best times to pick up a book and lose yourself for a few hours. I recently read a piece by author, Zadie Smith detailing just how much she likes to read and create memories through books.  I felt like I had found a kindred spirit.  Books are a vacation to me and never more so than in the summer months.  Sitting on my deck in the early morning, curled up on my sunny living room sofa in the late afternoon or nestled in bed at night I'm at my most content when I'm swimming and diving through the pages of a good read.  Here is what we are reading right now.   … [Read more...]

Entertaining & Educational Reads for Kids

At least I didn't.  There was no Summer Bridge series going on in my house.  It was a lot of Love Boat watching, Jetson eyeballing and daily intake of Little House on the Prairie. Most of that with a book in my hand while I multi-tasked my two favorite things.  I spent a ton of time outside on my bike or at the beach too.
