10 Styles You Need for Spring

Some of you might know this already but I write for Social Moms on a regular basis.  '10 Styles You Need for Spring' came out last month and I wanted to share it. It’s time to start packing away your woolly sweaters and heavy coats—and taking a look at the latest fashions. The warm weather has been hanging around a few weeks now and it is not going back to cold. I’ve compiled a list of the ten trends that are sure to put a spring in your step. Color Prep In case you missed it, Pantone released their latest color of the year and it’s “Greenery,” which suggests all things growing and blooming. If green is your thing, wear this shade anywhere and every where. If it’s not, here are some of the hot hues of the season: Read more... Spring Refresh & Shopbop Sales Event

Shopbop is having one of their FANTASTIC sales again. I picked out a few items to freshen up my spring wardrobe, let's call it a spring refresh.  Original, no? To be able to afford your shopping desires, you can try winning some money on games like 해외토토사이트. It's exactly what I need right now.  I've been pushing hard in my daily workouts with the motivation that I need to because in work and my personal life things are not going so stellar. A little kick from the post-workout endorphins is in order. I'm not hustlin' with work because I'm taking care of sick kids, we added spring sports into our schedule, real estate heats up this time of year (that's a great thing!) and we found out last week that our dog, my baby, has congestive heart failure.  We are making his last days comfortable … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday: Stripes and Leopard for Spring

Stripes and leopard. It's all about mixing prints and patterns and it isn't as hard as you think. Spring is a great time to experiment. Think about matching a floral pencil skirt with a stripe shirt. Still not sure? Here's an easier way. Start with neutral colors like black, white and navy if you are feeling skittish and work from there. I took my neutral leopard heels and paired them with my tried and true black ankle pants and a new striped shirt I picked up from J.Crew Factory. The stripe shirt gets and update with the ruffle added to the sleeve. Ruffles are really big this spring. Wearing a navy blue multi-strand necklace adds a hint of color while also staying in the neutral zone. I felt like this look was both fresh and classic.  It's updated with the ruffles and has an … [Read more...]

The Fortieth Birthday Party

*Disclosure: Compensation is received through affiliate links.  All opinions are 100% my own. What do you get when you take Jaws, a Darth Vader cake, a healthy dose of Mommie Dearest, and a DJ? A whole LOT of FUN and my fortieth birthday party. A little pre-party champagne before heading out to my party. For me, the perfect recipe for a good time is just three things: friends, dancing and cake.  I had all that and more thanks to H and a few helpful friends who put together a night I will always remember. Months ago, H told me he wanted to throw me a party with dancing.  I immediately started thinking of party ideas.  Since it wouldn't be at our house there was room for a DJ and maybe something more.  I started a guest list of my favorite folks and a play list for the night. … [Read more...]

Gingham and Mint

It is like the word that must not be spoken.  The 'R' word.  It started back in April and has not let up since making wearing anything in gingham and mint feel like a joke. This spring would feel like a bust here in the DMV if it were not for a few bright, warm days when I can break out some of the seasons fresh colors and trends. When the sun came out for one day last week all I could think of was breaking out my retired aqua Coach tote bag and these three things. D'orsay flats, a gingham button down and mint denim. The peeped out for a few moments that day and warmed this up just a bit. No Hunter rain boots today! Blue Stripes & White Denim

*Disclosure: Compensation is received through affiliate links.  All opinions are 100% my own. The rare sunny days we have had lately have made me yearn even more for light colors like blue stripes & white denim. Cooler temps prevail making long sleeves and denim are still needed daily. I love pairing it with my latest trench too. Excuse the lighting on the photo.  The rain has cast a crazy gloom over anything that no lighting can fix. All the Pretty Flowers

TheMummyChronicles.com occasionally receives vendor/ brand sponsorships for mentioning their products and services. I am not into a lot of prints. That is of no surprise to anyone, is it? I think it was hearing that as a kid and then teen I was too small in stature to carry off any type of print from stripes to all the pretty flowers and any type of loud color.  I'm serious.  So breaking into the floral trend, which is so stunning in spring was hard, but I love it too much to ignore.  I'm also co-hosting with Angela from Reason to Dress, so please check her out and join in!  Don't we all need a dress this flowy and fabulous to make us feel beautiful? Paired with simple jewelry … [Read more...]

A Little Wine & Design

One of the things I love about my neighborhood is that we hold a lot of events.  It can be family-oriented one month, a guys night or in the case of this past weekend a little time with friends, neighbors and new connections brought together by wine and a little bit of painting. It turned cold earlier that day with the winds whipping around making me forget the idea of running 8 miles and instead focus on being warm and comfortably cute. I brought out the cocoon sweater again and paired it with my gray denim and nude flats for new take on old favorites. The final product.  Warmer days are ahead! RIGHT?!
