Move It Monday

Mondays are all about getting moving. Jump start your week and think of Monday as 'Move It Monday'. I mix up my workouts a lot. From Barre3 to HIIT, running and finding new ways to get fit from Beachbody OnDemand I am always on the move and trying to hit my goals. When I'm short on time I do something like this to kick off my day and I do it before anyone else gets up. Fire Safety with Sparky’s Firehouse

This is post is sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association and Sparky.org. Fire Prevention Week is just around the corner, October 9-15, 2016 to be exact.  That means the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is debuting the highly entertaining and informative Sparky's Firehouse app.  Get the word out to teachers gearing up to teach your kiddos at all grade levels the importance of fire prevention and safety and cue adorable plastic hats atop their heads as they climb off the bus. In our house we have a child at every level from kindergarten to the end of elementary school.  I try to teach them about fire protection and so do their teachers, but we all need a little help sometimes too. That's why we frequently break out the Sparky's Firehouse app from the … [Read more...]

My Elementary School Age Kids Eat Baby Food

My kids may be beyond actual babyhood but that doesn't mean that baby food is no longer in my house. Yes, the rice cereal went with the bottles and rubber nipples but the squeezable fruit and veggie pouches  stayed along with other assorted foods and here's why.  Baby Food is Portable. Whether you have a full day of errands or fun activities (hello, beach trip!) ahead of you and your family or you are on the road; baby food like GoGo Squeez pouches, Peeled dried fruit or Jammy Sammy bars are easy to pack and take with you when you are on the go. I can pack a full days worth of snacks and drinks in a flash in non-leaking, biodegradable packaging, All those flat, squishy square and rectangular shapes fit nicely into my "mom-sized" purse or beach bag. My Anti-Aging Hair Care Routine with Women’s ROGAINE®

A few years back I noticed something was going on with my hair. You could see through it. My hair stylist was concerned. I was frustrated. My fine hair wasn't going to go back to being thick with just a new 'do either. The truth? I'm getting older. I needed a foolproof anti-aging hair care routine fast. That's where Women’s ROGAINE® Foam comes into play.  Because let's face it.  Hair thinning isn't uncommon. I've talked about it with my girlfriends before. Did you know that up to 42% of women will notice some hair loss in their lifetime and many of them will see hair thinning after age 30.  That is totally me.   For me that means starting the day with a dose of Women’s ROGAINE® Foam after shampooing with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner.  I can add it without worrying about … [Read more...]

Just Eat It

Just Eat It by victoriamason  I probably say those exact words more than once a day when I'm dealing with my kids.  While I like to cook I often dread making family meals because in a family five with three kids under ten years old you just can't please everyone. And when this time of year rolls around with extra holiday activities and festivities I find that we eat out more and more.  Finding a place that satisfies us all is our next hurdle. Where to Go Source: ElCactus Facebook page We break it down into a category and go from there.  Am I meeting a friend for a girls night?  Then Bistro Du Coin is a good spot.  Is it date night? Mintwood Place offers up some deliciously good American fare that is sure to please both H and I.  Maybe we are meeting a group and kids may or … [Read more...]

Share a Look. Share a Haircut.

There was a time when I wore a lot of black and it was totally a depiction of what was going on inside was showing on the outside.  I changed my hair color a lot and never felt comfortable in my own skin.  I didn't feel confident in anything and so when someone started telling me what to wear and especially how I should never wear my hair, I didn't even blink. That's right.  The classic pony tail was never allowed to happen on my head.  Always down.  Never up.  It was a sure sign of subliminal defiance when I broke things off and wore a bun in my hair one spring day.  Years later, while the memories are still there they don't hold value or sway like they once did.  I revel in black and how powerful I feel when I wear it.  Or whatever I want on any day.  And that includes how I do my … [Read more...]

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

One of my favorite pictures of my mother and I.  Coming out to support me at yet another race. Right between H's birthday and mine sits Mother's Day. I feel like if I don't get a jump on it while I'm planning his birthday then nothing will be available and no matter how wonderful or totally unique a gift is there won't be time to ship it to my own mother or his for Mother's Day. Which is May 10th this year in case you were also banking on having a lot more time just like me.  "I made these for you Mommy!"  While flowers are nice and will always work in a pinch I like to find something that is more personal, creative and offers value to the world and not just the recipient. Homemade wins hands down.  But what if you aren't the crafty sort? I found that just like I do over the … [Read more...]
