Mother Daughter Weekend Fun

I just spent the weekend shopping, eating, and taking in the sights in Philadelphia with my oldest daughter. This blog started because I became her mother so many years ago. Now, we are doing mother-daughter weekends away that don't involve strollers.  Instead, it's serial killer and psychopath tours while taking in historic sights. No more sippy cups instead we hunt for pastries and testing out new culinary delights. I remember thinking the sweet spot was elementary school but I have to say that staying up late and having conversations about real life and her future are a real treat and blessing too. It was a fun mother/daughter weekend complete with a show one night that swiped a bucket list item off for her.  I love weekend trips like this in the fall. It's less hectic than summer … [Read more...]

What I Love for Spring

It's that time of year again. Spring is here! It is a time for renewal and all that comes with what I love about spring. I'm feeling very grand millennial in my home style and it is certainly trickling down into what I want to wear.  Straw bags, even a vintage one from my grandmother, preppy prints, and colors. Gold hoops, white sneakers, vintage denim, animal prints, pastels, and some vibrant greens, yellows, and pinks will dominate my wardrobe over the next few months. What are you loving for spring 2021?  Are you ready to ditch the sweats and leggings wardrobe and send your cozy sweaters to the back of the closet?  I know that I am! I cannot wait for flowing sundresses paired with slides of all types. That goes along really well with my recent shopping over at Shopbop. They … [Read more...]

My Favorite Finds this Holiday Season

shacket shopbop

unsplash by @kellysikkema The 2020 year has been nothing but one surprise after another. It will go on record as truly historical.  I think we can all agree on that one.  The more things change the more things stay the same though and this blog is no different.  While there may be more pandemic posts than I would like and fewer bits of fun I couldn't resist putting together some of my favorite items to kick off the holiday season. The Shacket (I know! It's not a great name but it is a totally great item for your wardrobe!) What is it?  It's a shirt and a jacket. Get it?  A Shacket! Perfect for this time of year.  I love the versatility and pure comfort of the Shacket.  Shopbop has some fun ones too.  Take advantage of the sale going on right now.  I think the pink plaid by Stand … [Read more...]

Shop the Shopbop Spring Event

The Shopbop Spring Event is here!  I don't know about you, but I get super excited about it each and every year.  It's the perfect time to see the latest styles for the spring season and stock up on necessities and closet staples too.  I like to pick up a few items already marked down from the winter that I can use now and again next fall too.  It's a total win-win situation. In years past I have found everything from gorgeous sandals, Havianas, spring and summer dresses, the perfect t-shirt, and accessories and bags beyond compare. It's super fun to browse through all the categories and look at items by color too.  That's where I really begin to break down what I want because I typically have an idea in mind of what I want for the season.  Last summer it was a green bathing suit.  This … [Read more...]

The Best Black Leggings

models ofurbanculture by veamason   I love black leggings.  Particularly ones for, oh wait,  there's no real guideline here. I love Spanx type that looks like leather or just cotton.  Fabletics capri or full-length black leggings for working out or just hanging around the house?  Adore.  That's right.  And since this winter was endless and my disease makes me not want to wear anything that isn't super comfy my black leggings have been in a heavy rotation.  I've gotten creative with my black leggings. So let's talk about my favorite black leggings.  You can wear them all year round.  And yes, I truly believe that black leggings are pants especially now that the athleisure trend is so hot. In no particular order. They're all AWESOME!   Terez Black Skull Foil leggings. … [Read more...]

Spring, a Shopbop Sale & Everything InBetween

As I look out my window today and type this the weather is raw and rainy.  We are expecting snow tonight and everyone around me is grousing on and on about how they "just can't take one more day of winter."  I feel you. Big time. Spring is so often associated with rebirth. This past winter with me being sick and indoors for all of it has been decidedly one of the hardest times in my life.  It's been dark, people, really dark.  I've been struggling with my treatments for the Lyme disease and all three of the co-infections. My spirits have sagged to new lows with the pain these treatments cause.  The nausea all day, every day is such a highlight. I was just beginning to feel like I was turning a corner about two weeks ago and that I could see a light at the end of all this and BAM! … [Read more...]

Shopbop Sale Top Picks

I love a good sale.  Who doesn't?  Especially when the spring season is about to kick off. It may still be cold and cloudy outside but my brain and closet are gearing up for warmer weather. The Shopbop Sale (details below!) is going strong right now and here are a few of my top picks to kick off the spring season.   Rebecca Minkoff Pressed Flowers Diamond Scarf. This scarf hits up that dark floral trend for spring while also nailing the use of scarves this time of year.  Consider tying it around your wrist instead of a bracelet or wrapping it around your structured bags handle too.   Robert Rodgriguez Halter Jumpsuit is a great transition piece from spring to summer.  Wear it with mules, dress it up with strappy sandals, throw on a blazer or wear it alone.  I love … [Read more...]

New Year’s Looks

When it comes to putting together a New Year's Look I'm kind of a one and done kind of girl.  I don't want to mess with a lot of moving parts.  Just throw on a dress and let's go! This year with less work comes less of a clothing budget.  Thanks, Lymes!  So, I made a deal with myself.  Find all shoes, accessories, and one part of my new year's look in my own closet.  You can only add one new thing.  That meant breaking out a pair of black velvet skinny pants I wore only once last year and maybe only for a photo shoot.   New Year's Look- House Party by victoriamason featuring genuine leather handbags   New Year's Look- At Home by victoriamason featuring valentines day shirts Sale Dates:12/26-12/28. The sale is additional 25% off sale items with Code … [Read more...]

Wardrobe Staple: The Nude Flat

No matter what time of year it is the nude flat is a wardrobe staple.  I recently slid into my trusty pair only to find them too small.  What?! I had to find a new pair and in fact, saw a seriously cute set on a girl walking down the street one day in downtown DC.  I asked her who made them and wasn't surprised to hear it was Sam Edelman.  I quickly logged onto Shopbop and picked up my own new pair.  They are super soft, with a bit of cushion and a classic ballerina flat.  I adore them. Styling the Wardrobe Staple the Nude Flat 3 Ways   LOOK ONE- Fall or patriotic play is however you want to look at this fall combo that looks good on all body types.  The round toe nude flats add comfort.     Nude Flats Look 1 by victoriamason featuring a long … [Read more...]
