Always Mad for Plaid

Maybe it is because I was an 80s child and a teen in the 90s but I have always been mad for plaid.  The traditional pleated skirts I wore as a private school kid in the 1980s. The fabulous 70s a-line skirts my mother wore when I was little with heeled boots. Then the plaid flannel shirts, more pleated skirts and oh those plaid stockings and leggings I could NOT stop wearing in high school. I love plaid.  Always and forever. Amen. The holiday season is officially here.  So long Halloween, make way for the burnt oranges, browns and golden yellow plaids that deepen our love for fall.  Then turn your eyes on the darker black plaids, brilliant reds and gorgeous green plaids that fill the holiday season in the month of December. Wardrobe Staple: The Nude Flat

No matter what time of year it is the nude flat is a wardrobe staple.  I recently slid into my trusty pair only to find them too small.  What?! I had to find a new pair and in fact, saw a seriously cute set on a girl walking down the street one day in downtown DC.  I asked her who made them and wasn't surprised to hear it was Sam Edelman.  I quickly logged onto Shopbop and picked up my own new pair.  They are super soft, with a bit of cushion and a classic ballerina flat.  I adore them. Styling the Wardrobe Staple the Nude Flat 3 Ways   LOOK ONE- Fall or patriotic play is however you want to look at this fall combo that looks good on all body types.  The round toe nude flats add comfort.     Nude Flats Look 1 by victoriamason featuring a long … [Read more...]

Image Source Fashion does not make exceptions for shoes – after all, it’s a $40 billion industry. With every season, we get to see a new breed of all kinds of heels - thin stilettos, satin pumps, black-heel mules, and towering high heels. But as far as the history of high heels is concerned, it takes you back all the way to the 15th century. During those days, heels were not only something associated with only women fashion. There are history pages that talk about Persian men who wore heels, especially while horse riding. As the decades continued, heels were worn and loved by both the genders equally. While high heels have evolved a great deal since the 15th … [Read more...]

Moccasins for Pre-Fall

I can't help myself.  The weather turned suddenly cooler and I just wanted to wear my new red moccasins with a pair of jeans. It's pre-fall time, guys.  I couldn't be more pleased. There is something about shiny patent moccasins in bright colors like red or orange that make me smile. I actually squealed when I opened the box the first time. I cannot wait to pair these Michael Kors Daisy Moccasins with not just jeans but other types of denim like white, black, gray and even a pair of chinos.  They'll look cute with a stripe dress too.  You can find more ways to wear them here. MORE STRIPES FOR EVERYONE!  That's my never-ending motto. I had to pair them with my new Forget Me Knot earrings.  I had a pair years ago and lost them. I have searched for a decent pair ever … [Read more...]

For the Love of Loafers

In addition to ankle booties and ballet flats, loafers are some of the most comfortable shoes you can wear year-round. But there are too many of you out there that still aren't taking advantage of this near-perfect shoe. If you just haven't gotten around to it yet, it's about time you do so. On the other hand, if you're hesitant to buy your first pair because you're intimidated by the design, there's no need to be. You just need a quick trend breakdown of the latest loafers—a must-have for any shoe collection. For starters, the loafer designs among the endless supply of flats on Lyst vary in detail, but aside from a few outliers by Kate Spade and Michael Kors, most of them stick to a classic black or brown palette. They're made of leather, faux leather, suede, and various other … [Read more...]
