Fashion Tips For Every Busy Mom Out There

Can you remember a time before your kids, when you had the time to really invest in your clothes? Your keen sense of fashion doesn't have to go away just because you're a mom now. Moms have every right to love their fashion just as much as childless twenty-somethings. However, being a mom is a full-time job, without the financial benefits, so you're crazy busy all the time. If you want to spend your days rocking the sweatpants and bed head look, then go crazy, but you can still find the time to upgrade your fashion game. Don't forget to take care of yourself while you're busy taking care of your kids. While no one ever said that being fashionable was easy, there are plenty of items that look great and are easy to throw on in a hurry. Here are some fashion tips that every mom should have … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday- Winter Blues

Baby, it's cold outside! When the temperatures drop like this (read no school because it is that cold!) and snow days pile up I tend to hunker down, ignore everything in my closet and pull on wool sweaters my grandfather once wore and break out the equally toasty wool socks. Boots are de rigeuer. Needless to say the fashion shots have been slim to none. … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday – Style Link-Up with Tres Chic Thursdays!

Let's just start out by saying that this oufit you are seeing was not what I planned. Then again, I don't plan on having 70 degree days in mid-November! I was zipping up my high brown riding boots when I just thought, "Ugh. I just can't do it. It's too much. I will incinerate." Off it all came and in the hustle and bustle that is getting the kids off to school I grabbed the bright red pants that were sticking out of the closet. I ripped the striped shirt off the hanger and thought, "Why not! Let's go full-on prep!" Out came the buckle ballet flats and on went the silver beaded necklace, which I had forgotten about and haven't worn in years. I think I'm in love with it all over again.  It has a certain Mad Men/Masters of Sex feel to it. A smooth low pony and swipe of red gloss completed the … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday

One day I was running down the path and the leaves were on fire with their golden bursts of reds, oranges and yellows.  It was magnificient and made me smile each time I gazed up at them.  In just a matter of days almost of all of them are now swirling around the blocks of our neighborhood, creating tempting piles to jump in and even beating us in the face with the high winds that have kicked up. It feels as if winter is already on its way. Queue the outfit below. All warm knits and high boots that keep the feet warm as I battle a cold. … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday- Boo at the Zoo with Ugg

Disclosure: TMC was given shoes courtesy of Ugg Australia as well as tickets to Boo at the Zoo as part of review. No compensation was received. Opinions are TMC's only. Why do I love what I do? For moments like the one my family and I enjoyed this past Saturday night when we got the chance to go to the sold-out Boo at the Zoo at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. While I have always wanted to take the girls I wasn't into the whole toting wee ones around in the dark past bedtime, but they are older now. When Ugg Australia contacted me last week asking if the whole family wanted to pick out some new shoes and trek around tricking and treating at the zoo, I did not hesitate. … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday- WAPA Rally 2013

Rockland Manor, home of this year's rally It was a ridiculously rainy October day last Friday. The kind that makes you want to shrink back under the covers and call it a day right after a mug of hot tea. Unless of course that day is the annual WAPA (Washington Automotive Press Association) Rally. I'm a fairly new and overly excited member, think Ritalin-infused Chihuahua puppy kind of excited, and this was my first rally. I had no idea what to expect beyond the fact that I was headed into Potomac, Maryland to spend the day driving cars of all types and horsepower. Mmm....horsepower. Like 429 horsepower in the Hyundai Equus. Leather seating, fuel economy, diesel, torque and superior sound systems. All words that get the reaction from me that some women get from designer shoes. Speaking … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday- 2941 Fall Harvest

This weekend was jam packed full of fall goodness.  It was as if I was trying to cram a month spent missing out on autumn into two days. Wait. That is exactly what I did. From spending the day at Planet Spooky at Kings Dominion with the kids on Saturday to spending Sunday afternoon on a day date with H at 2941's Fall Harvest Festival (sublime!) and even getting my first run in since I've been sick.       The Fall Harvest Festival at 2941 was held Sunday, September 29. It featured eights wines from France and Germany as well as four types of fall beers.  My favorite wine by far was the Leon Bosch, Sylvaner from Alsace, France.  At different tables throughout the restaurant you could taste delicious items like Duck Pithivier or a fall ratatouille. Served with a warm butternut … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday – Summer Color Block

I love color blocking when I see it in an image online or in a magazine. I get all, "Ooh, so pretty! I want to do that!" It seems so simple too.  Throw on a pair of black pants and something with cobalt blue in it and make the shoes and clutch match. A statement necklace completes it.  Much like putting pen to paper I am not that wonderful in executing it in fashion terms. Or at least not taking photos of it. I end up with this version of color blocking instead. … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday- Moto Style Transitions

I discovered Essie 'For the Twill of It' and it was all down hill from there. I covet colors that are like swirling pools of oil. I seem to buy one with equal excitement and OMIGODIMUSTILUSTHAVETHIS zeal each time one comes out. It's a bit of a problem. Then I things like this happen. … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday – My Fight, My Cause

I believe in not always going with the status quo.  It wasn't always that way. There were many times that no matter what I thought or how I fought, how much noise I made, I felt muted. No one saw the signs, no one saw the bruises. And in a strange way, that often takes a lot to understand, neither did I. I could think of my time being abused by someone who I thought loved me as lost years, but I refuse. Instead, I believe it made me stronger. I got over it. I somehow found the strength that was so many times dormant to say no. No more. One day, I just broke away. I didn't know the damage that had been done to me and wouldn't for a while. when I did I was lucky to have the support needed, the resources to get away and being to heal. It took far longer than I would ever think to … [Read more...]
