New Year’s Looks

When it comes to putting together a New Year's Look I'm kind of a one and done kind of girl.  I don't want to mess with a lot of moving parts.  Just throw on a dress and let's go! This year with less work comes less of a clothing budget.  Thanks, Lymes!  So, I made a deal with myself.  Find all shoes, accessories, and one part of my new year's look in my own closet.  You can only add one new thing.  That meant breaking out a pair of black velvet skinny pants I wore only once last year and maybe only for a photo shoot.   New Year's Look- House Party by victoriamason featuring genuine leather handbags   New Year's Look- At Home by victoriamason featuring valentines day shirts Sale Dates:12/26-12/28. The sale is additional 25% off sale items with Code … [Read more...]

3 Amazing Advent Calendars for Adults

As a kid, I loved advent calendars.  I collected quite a few as I grew up and I still love them today.  We have a cute cloth one that the kids mark the days with a wooden candy cane each year.  Last year I received a more grown-up version of the advent calendar and found that I still really loved opening a new door each day to find my surprise. Here are my favorites for this year and just for you and they make excellent gifts too. I especially love the idea of giving them as a thank you or hostess gift during the holiday season. The L'Occitane Advent Calendar There is a luxury version as well that is $124 versus the $69 price for the one above. 2.  Clarins Advent Calendar Last year I went with the Tonic Candle from Clarins.  It lasted for months and made my office … [Read more...]

5 Ways to Feel Good this Holiday Season

I'm just going to say it, the holiday season is upon us!  Let's not fuss and gripe about it being earlier and earlier each year. Instead, focus on the good and all the ways we can feel good this holiday season. Source: Alisa Anton, Unsplash.com You may have noticed that things have changed around here.  Less is more? I'm not sure when it comes to blogging but I do know that serious health issues have made it impossible for me to work and the guest posts have really racked up around here.  That's fine.  While I continue to heal and still figure out what exactly has me in full body pain and fatigue daily, I'm happy to let others share their voice. Share.  That's a great way to feel good.  Share your love. Share your blessings. Share your home and whatever you have.  I love to share my … [Read more...]

The TMC Holiday Gift Guide

I did it again. I created a TMC Holiday Gift Guide.  You've been warned. There are no gift ideas here for the man in your life. Why? Because quite frankly every time I look at one of those guides or show one to H he says, "This is all stuff I would never want and never need. I want a snowblower or running gear, not shaving accessories. I swear to God, Vicky, if I see another toiletry bag as a gift I'm going to shiv someone." #twopeasinapod   Let's start with the kids gift guide, shall we?   Holiday Gift Guide for Kids by victoriamason featuring paper placemats Mega Bloks American Girl Isabelle Ballet Recital/Exploding Kittens: A Card Game About Kittens and Explosions and Sometimes Goats/American Girl Wellie Wisher (Willa shown)/Carter's Pajamas/Seedling Snow … [Read more...]

Everyday Basics

This  week has me sending texts that make my friends say, "Reading about your day has me exhausted."  That's why I am relying on the everyday basics of my closet to get me through this week and every day this month if I'm honest. This time of year there are parties and special events and blog posts to upload with holiday looks, but what I'm really wearing on the daily is all my best and favorite basics. These closet staples are must-haves and make it possible to just grab and go every morning. I want to get as much done now while the girls are in school so that I can enjoy their time off at Christmas. Monday morning had me running all over the town.  It was warmer and the sun was shining bright. No jacket needed. Staples like a stripe shirt, black booties, and a cardigan work … [Read more...]

Home for the Holidays

Each year we spend Christmas at home.  Family visits and with three kids we really enjoy a relaxed time the comes from being home for the holidays. This is our second Christmas in our new home and it has undergone more changes in the last few months.  We finally said good-bye to the last of the outdated, late 90's burgundy and gold-brown walls that permeated the house and hello to a spruced up and lighter palette of blues and greens and grays. Our house is really beginning to feel like our home. Day one of decorating. We needed new things to go with the new paint colors throughout the house. We quickly realized how lucky we are that Garnet Hill sent us new stockings for this Christmas from their Hable Christmas Stocking collection. They match perfectly with the new paint … [Read more...]

The Pajama Blouse

I'm a little bit obsessed with the Pajama Blouse right now.  As in I want one for every day of the month. There is something about the month of December that makes me want to simultaneously wrap myself in gorgeous fabrics like soft silks,jewel-encrusted rings and velvet shoes while also being so comfortable I feel like I'm wearing loungewear.  The pajama blouse can be all those things all at once. I purchased one in an emerald plaid pajama blouse from the most recent Shopbop sale and the idea of wearing it with a pair of loafers and jeans is quite perfect for a work at home day.   Intropia Silk Pajama Blouse/NYDJ Sophia Flare Ankle Jeans/Jon Josef 'Gentry' Black Smoking Loafer (simliar)/Shein Black Horse Hair Covered Saddle Bag with Chain Strap (similar)/Romwe Silver … [Read more...]

Are You Mad for Holiday Plaid?

I am placing full responsibility on this red ruffled shirt for single-handedly getting me into the Christmas spirit. It also made me mad for holiday plaid. Now I just want ALL THE PLAID. I wore this easy combination on Thanksgiving and I loved it more than I thought I would.  Initially when I bought the shirt and tried it on I felt it was too stuffy.  Buttoned up all the way to the top to show off the ruffles was too staid.  Pairing it with my velvet skinny pants felt too much like I was skipping Thanksgiving entirely and heading straight to Santa coming down the chimney. I decided to undo a few buttons and add some much needed sparkle with this J.Crew necklace I received as a birthday gift (SOLD OUT-similar).  Pairing it with skinny ankle pants felt classic and enhanced … [Read more...]
