Valentine’s Gift Guide

I love all the pink puffy heart parts of Valentine's Day. The red decor.  The candy.  The pop of color in an otherwise dull winter.  Long ago, when I was in high school I created my own valentines and gave them out to my friends to help brighten their day. Now, I just hope that I don't eat all the chocolate that comes into my house via the kids. BUT, I felt we needed to address the V-Day Gift Guide sitch. This gift guide isn't about you or is it? Gift giving is about what the gift receiver wants. Honestly, Valentine's Day for guys? It's kind of a joke. It's lame. They don't care about shaving sets or candy.  Another pair of heart-printed whatever?  Nope. So, file this under racy and check out my picks from 3Wishes.com, a lingerie site that caters to a wide variety of tastes and … [Read more...]

Simple Self-Care for the Holidays

Is there any time of year more stressful than right now? We both love and hate the holidays, am I right? I discovered Simple Self-Care recently and have fallen in love and calmed down. Created by my long-time friend Gretchen, a yoga instructor, and all around zen individual she whips up these all natural lip balms, roller ball scents and sprays that are to die for and really do make up Simple Self-Care. My girls went nuts over the Lip Love lip balms. In flavors like lime, lemon, grapefruit and peppermint; we all had a lip balm to love.  They go on clear, smooth and last a long time.  Made with ingredients like coconut oil, beeswax, apricot kernel oil and other natural components they don't dry out your lips.  Other scents are also available. They make great stocking stuffers … [Read more...]

The #writegift this Father’s Day

*Disclosure: TMC was compensated for this post.  Products received are for review purposes only and opinions are 100% my own.  Translucent Titian red lacquer featuring Iron Man design details and 23KT gold-plated appointments. It is of no surprise to anyone that many gift-giving opportunities in our family end up including a super hero of some sort.  The girls and I are giving H the #writegift this Father's Day. It is his own Iron Man ballpoint pen from Cross. A #superpen, if you will.  The man is #teamironman vs. my #teamcap and H is no ordinary father and a Cross pen is no ordinary pen. Available in rollerball, ballpoint and stylus versions you can choose from one of three designs: Captain America, Iron Man and Spiderman.  The choice is yours and there is a Tech II version as well … [Read more...]

Last Minute Valentines Gifts from Massage Envy

We've talked about the importance of spoiling ourselves on Valentines day and I took it totally to heart.  I booked my next monthly facial (all part of my year-long plan) and a massage at my local Massage Envy.  If you haven't been to one of their locations then you are missing out! I checked out my local Manassas one just this week.     Rates for a introductory massage start at $59 and the introductory facial starts at $69. How can you beat those prices?  There a many options to choose from when you pick out your massage, including hot stone therapy, sport and more (prices vary on the option and length).  When it comes to facials they are done according to your skincare needs using a wide array of Murad products.  I could not wait to begin because let's face facts this … [Read more...]

The American Girl Gift Guide

Every year my girls and I put together a collection of our favorite items to create the American Girl gift guide. This year is no different. Just like I would get into a flurry of excitement when the big Sears catalog would arrive each Christmas, my girls do the same thing with the holiday American Girl doll catalog.  Each one spends hours, sometimes days, looking over each item and deciding if she should mark it with her initial.  This year, the littlest one circled everything and freaked out when anyone else wanted the same toy. She was convinced only one person could have each gift. Our picks for the 2015 holiday season are a mix of accessories and clothing and broken down by age.  This was the first year I noticed a shift in what my oldest daughter daughter wanted and I had to … [Read more...]

I HEART Valentines Day

First things first, I absolutely adore Valentines Day. It's my Dad's birthday, there's a total excuse to make up some yummy dessert and I love a good pink and red combination. While I might want a subscription to this for the big pink, puffy heart day- I'm totally crushing on the Chevy Colorado right now. And I never tire of macarons, especially chocolate ones. … [Read more...]

My Valentine’s Day Treats

I'm gearing up for Valentine's Day by buying all the necessary cards, crafting tools, baking items and other assorted goodies and treats. It gets me so excited to start this planning and do these things for others. Sometimes I wish it was ALL I did. Then, I decided to create a handy little cheat sheet (ahem) for me. Because why not? I'm so in love with pink this year, which is beyond bizarre since normally the color makes me cranky, so I'm just accepting it and moving on. This color obsession can't last more than one season, right?! … [Read more...]

Our Holiday Gift Ideas with American Girl

Disclosure:  TMC was not paid for this post.  Products received are for review purposes only.  Opinions are TMC's only.    Three girls with three hearts devoted to American Girl means we spend a lot of time going through each and every American Girl catalog that comes to our house.  That catalog is like the big fat Sears catalog was to me when I was growing up.  They spend hours circling things, discussing items and talking about who they imagine they will give so many of the dolls and accessories to, if only they had an unlimited bank account.  This year I rounded up the girls and asked them to tell me their top three items they would like to receive or give to friends. … [Read more...]
