Fast Fitness in Ten Moves

Fast fitness has to be one of my favorite things. I'm the kind of person who likes efficiency and quickness. It's probably why I order my groceries online and pick them up later that day versus actually shopping in the store. When it comes to working out I like fast fitness too.  It's no wonder I like HIIT workouts so much. And quick runs, and Barre3 and I could go on and on. When it comes to traveling, generally being short on time or just wanting a fast way to workout so I can get on with my day, I turn to these ten moves. I keep a stack of cards just like this PIN-WORTHY image printed out and in my dresser.  I rotate through the workouts on the days when I have to get moving and out the door at warp speed.  Trust me, I'm a nicer person if I've burned off some of my intensity in the … [Read more...]

The 21 Day Fix

I read somewhere that it takes 21 days to break a habit, get a 21 day fix, in other words.  I also read that it takes seven days.  Like a lot of dieting topics the information is conflicting and confusing.  Sometimes though you need to hit a reset button and bring you back to basics.  That's exactly what I'm doing right now by doing the 21 Day Fix*. I didn't realize it, but during the last year with the whole process of buying the house, prepping our old house to rent then the new one to move into and the actual move there wasn't a lot of time.  My schedule didn't consist of working out, working and my family, which was the norm.  It was all that, plus home repair projects on two homes, packing then unpacking and more home repair projects once we were in the new house.  In that time my … [Read more...]

A Little Motivation

When it comes to fitness I have been off my game this summer. Sure, I've been working out on a regular basis but I haven't pushed myself in the last month. I stopped running regularly when we started to move and afterwards it was the dead of winter, a new neighborhood with no consistent sidewalks and a bunch of excuses to fuel the 'no more running' fire. Except, once a runner, always a runner. I think that same mind over body thing that can sometimes derail a good run will also bring you right back around. The way I feel after a run lasts more than a few hours and I love how it changes my perspective and gets me out and about and into the elements. It clears my head and keeps me active while giving me a bit of alone time too. And I'm all about anything that offers up less stress, better … [Read more...]

Upping My Game & Finding New Challenges

Spring break last week provided me with more opportunities to work out, read books about this first British female to summit K2, which helped me to be more productive than I could of ever imagined. I was halfway through the week and realized, "I've worked out every day! YES!" And I rocked that routine mixing it up with ME, running and weights everyday but Sunday when we traveled. I typically don't go to the gym at night with the kids but last week I said, "Screw it!" It's the witching hour in our house at that point and if I just plan enough, meaning dinner made ahead of time, I can get to my favorite class (Metabolic Effect) and be done and the kids have a blast at the gym's Kidz Klub (don't get me started on that spelling) every time we go they think it is like going to a birthday … [Read more...]

Get R.I.P.P.E.D.

I've read that the more rage you have in you the harder you need to work physically.  I must have a lot of rage because I am in love with the new class at my gym called, R.I.P.P.E.D. As part of my lazy New Year's resolutions I wanted to see if I could get in really great shape this year. Actually see some definition in my arms and you know, not just lose a size or something.  I wanted to gain endurance. To get there I decided I needed to take a class that actually scares me.  There's Jungshin but that scares me in the way that it has us using fake swords and suddenly all I can picture is George Michael using a lightsaber in his garage again.  So, R.I.P.P.E.D.  An hour of bursts of cardio and then weights in between.  It is high-energy, of course.  It takes stamina and a … [Read more...]

The Quick Fit Parent

This week there hasn't been a lot of time to spend at the gym or out running. Let's face it, nothing deters me from an outdoor run more than humidity and we have had plenty of it here. … [Read more...]
