Mother Daughter Weekend Fun

I just spent the weekend shopping, eating, and taking in the sights in Philadelphia with my oldest daughter. This blog started because I became her mother so many years ago. Now, we are doing mother-daughter weekends away that don't involve strollers.  Instead, it's serial killer and psychopath tours while taking in historic sights. No more sippy cups instead we hunt for pastries and testing out new culinary delights. I remember thinking the sweet spot was elementary school but I have to say that staying up late and having conversations about real life and her future are a real treat and blessing too. It was a fun mother/daughter weekend complete with a show one night that swiped a bucket list item off for her.  I love weekend trips like this in the fall. It's less hectic than summer … [Read more...]

Fall Favorites 2021

Fall is officially here!  Unlike last year where I had zero desire to shop for fall looks or even care about the trends that might be happening, Fall 2021 is pure fun. I'm excited to dive back into my closet, dust off my booties, and start wearing clothes that go beyond athleisure once again. Bring on the collar necklace to wear under the perfect white button-down shirt or sweater dress. Sling that new crossbody or bucket bag over your shoulder and head out into the crisp fall weather. Here are some of my favorites pieces that I bought but probably never wore (thanks, worldwide pandemic) and some new ones. Alexander Wang Lane Black Boots/AuRate Gold Collar Necklace/J.Crew Plaid Pants (similar)/Shopbop Shacket/Lioness Palermo Black Blazer/Lola Mae Crossbody Mad for Plaid … [Read more...]

Fall Jewelry Collections

Disclaimer: Please know this post is a sponsored partnership is between Nakturnal, and The Mummy Chronicles. Compensation was received for this post. All opinions are 100% my own.  I don't wear a lot of jewelry in the summer months.  I do however like to layer it in the fall and winter.  Fall jewelry collections are out now and while I love a good statement ring the big hitters this season are amped up earrings. Earrings that Dangle and Entice We are still hanging with the tortoiseshell trend and I like it. Earrings are no exception.  I love the addition of beads, thicker hoops and oblong shapes from Shopbop that dangle and swing. J.Crew has some gorgeous bejeweled studs that really add to a simple sweater and pair of jeans. It feels very excess and a bit 1980s in a good … [Read more...]

Heels That Crafted History

*Disclosure: Guest post by Christine Rudolph.  Opinions are 100% those of the guest post contributor.  Affiliate links are used. Image Source Fashion does not make exceptions for shoes – after all, it’s a $40 billion industry. With every season, we get to see a new breed of all kinds of heels - thin stilettos, satin pumps, black-heel mules, and towering high heels. But as far as the history of high heels is concerned, it takes you back all the way to the 15th century. During those days, heels were not only something associated with only women fashion. There are history pages that talk about Persian men who wore heels, especially while horse riding. As the decades continued, heels were worn and loved by both the genders equally. While high heels have evolved a great deal since the 15th … [Read more...]

How ‘A New Day’ at Target Gave Me Unicorn Pants

Last week I found myself back at the old bullseye also known as Target for what felt like the billionth time in weeks.  Yes, we needed more school supplies (Dear, middle school you can stop now with all the per class special requests) and some items for the girls' new fall activities.  Wouldn't you know it also gave me time to check out the 'A New Day' line in the Target women's department? And there on a rack chocked full of boring black and navy dress pants I found what is now referred to as my "Unicorn Pants".  I swear, I was only looking and not planning to buy.  But then, well, unicorn pants. How do I describe these pants?  They are incredibly soft to the touch.  They look dressy but can be dressed down too. They are a small but sentimental nod to our old life in the … [Read more...]

The Moto Jacket 3 Ways

This fall I am all about my newest moto jacket. I wear it almost daily and it goes with so much. I had to share a few of my latest moto jacket looks- The Moto Jacket 3 Ways. First Look I feel like this look is easy, can be worn while out running errands or on the weekend.  I love just throwing on the moto jacket for warmth and topping off the stripes with a leopard scarf. Second Look This athleisure look has a pop of color in the red purse.  I added my black pebbled Converse sneakers and black sunglasses to complete the look.  This dress I found at Marshall's last week by Philsophy and it is a super luxe feeling cashmere knit.  Perfect for fall weekends.  I might pair it with black booties to dress it up later. Third Look This was a … [Read more...]

Fall for Pink and Yellow

Pretty in pink and yellow. Pink and yellow for fall?  Oh, indeed.   Every new season comes with a different set of color combinations. Rust and pale blue are hot right now. Fall 2016 has plenty of them to be sure, but the stand out to me this year is pink and yellow.  I'm in love with this combining of a soft, plush pink tone with a saturated yellow that brings to mind number 2 pencils.  Adding dashes of black and brown hues really makes the look stand out. What's your favorite color combo for fall?  Using this wooden flat bead necklace in black and animal print flats adds an almost tribal flair to an otherwise prim look.
