Heels That Crafted History

Image Source Fashion does not make exceptions for shoes – after all, it’s a $40 billion industry. With every season, we get to see a new breed of all kinds of heels - thin stilettos, satin pumps, black-heel mules, and towering high heels. But as far as the history of high heels is concerned, it takes you back all the way to the 15th century. During those days, heels were not only something associated with only women fashion. There are history pages that talk about Persian men who wore heels, especially while horse riding. As the decades continued, heels were worn and loved by both the genders equally. While high heels have evolved a great deal since … [Read more...]

How ‘A New Day’ at Target Gave Me Unicorn Pants

Last week I found myself back at the old bullseye also known as Target for what felt like the billionth time in weeks.  Yes, we needed more school supplies (Dear, middle school you can stop now with all the per class special requests) and some items for the girls' new fall activities.  Wouldn't you know it also gave me time to check out the 'A New Day' line in the Target women's department? And there on a rack chocked full of boring black and navy dress pants I found what is now referred to as my "Unicorn Pants".  I swear, I was only looking and not planning to buy.  But then, well, unicorn pants. How do I describe these pants?  They are incredibly soft to the touch.  They look dressy but can be dressed down too. They are a small but sentimental nod to our old life in the … [Read more...]

Styling a Velvet Blazer

The Moto Jacket 3 Ways

This fall I am all about my newest moto jacket. I wear it almost daily and it goes with so much. I had to share a few of my latest moto jacket looks- The Moto Jacket 3 Ways. First Look I feel like this look is easy, can be worn while out running errands or on the weekend.  I love just throwing on the moto jacket for warmth and topping off the stripes with a leopard scarf. Second Look This athleisure look has a pop of color in the red purse.  I added my black pebbled Converse sneakers and black sunglasses to complete the look.  This dress I found at Marshall's last week by Philsophy and it is a super luxe feeling cashmere knit.  Perfect for fall weekends.  I might pair it with black booties to dress it up later. Third Look This was a … [Read more...]

Fall for Pink and Yellow

Pretty in pink and yellow. Pink and yellow for fall?  Oh, indeed.   Every new season comes with a different set of color combinations. Rust and pale blue are hot right now. Fall 2016 has plenty of them to be sure, but the stand out to me this year is pink and yellow.  I'm in love with this combining of a soft, plush pink tone with a saturated yellow that brings to mind number 2 pencils.  Adding dashes of black and brown hues really makes the look stand out. What's your favorite color combo for fall?  Using this wooden flat bead necklace in black and animal print flats adds an almost tribal flair to an otherwise prim look. Labor Day Transitions

Smile. Labor day weekend was wonderful, wasn't it?  It felt full of transitions and golden sunshine, soft breezes and the ability to wear both jeans and a swimsuit all the in the same day.  I love that. It was only after I got to the restaurant I realized I was in head to toe J.Crew.  This is what happens when they have a 50% OFF sale. I snapped some quick pics before I met two of my friends for a leisurely Labor day brunch on Monday. Later a waitress would spill a pot of coffee all over this bag. Jeans and flats season! The Oversized Poncho

One of the best things I have purchased this fall is an open front, oversized poncho from Old Navy.  I saw it one day while walking by the store and I knew I just had to have it.  It looked cozy, lightweight but warm and really versatile. I throw it on to take my girls to the bus stop in the morning, while out running around town or when I'm headed out for a date night. I add a belt to cinch the waist when I know I'm going to be wearing it for long periods of time or I just let it hang loose. Either way, it's a poncho, a big trend this fall, and I'm in love. Back to Nature

It's time to head back to nature. After spending the weekend fixing up little things in the house, getting it ready for fall and generally being busy it felt time to head back to nature. Sure, there were lots of runs outdoors but I'm talking color schemes and clothes here, people. Ready for date night with H. Olive lightweight sweater with dark denim and booties makes a perfect dinner and movie look.  This honeycomb style necklace was included in my last Stitch Fix box. I love it! It's the perfect pendant for any season and will work with a lot of looks. Have  you tried Smith & Cult nail polish yet?  If not, DO IT!  Even without a top coat your nails will last.  Though I add a gel coat top coat by Essie each time I still have no-chip nails for 4-5 days.  That … [Read more...]

I’m Obsessed with Fall

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with fall (we are not even going to kid ourselves and put a "kind of obsessed" in there).  I mean, I walk outside my front door and start singing, "It's the most WONDERFUL time of the year...." on a daily basis and I don't even drink SBUX PSL's.  Fall makes me want to craft and I'm not crafty.  It makes me want to fill the house with baked goods and pass them out to friends and it makes me want to SHOP!  Cozy knits, fall boots and booties, ponchos, sweater dresses and new jeans! I WANT IT ALL!  It's like I have to get my own back to school shopping in for myself. Which makes me think of school.  And when I think of school, I always think about how much I loved shopping the J.Crew catalog in high school.  Well, guess what?  J.Crew is having a great sale … [Read more...]

Max Jeans for Fall

I love a good collaboration with a fellow fashion blogger but when it comes in a pair and makes me stretch my fashion comfort level, then it is even better. Max Jeans has some fun looks for the upcoming fall season.  Whether it is a new pair of boyfriend jeans that are more fitted or you want to layer your look Max Jeans has some great options. I received three pieces and styled them with cooler temps in mind.  Two other bloggers, Julie and Andrea received the same three items and you can see different versions of the same jeans, jacket and vest done styled by them. Max Jeans Women's Denim Anorak Jacket This jacket is very different for me. I don't tend to even look at light denim washes much less in jacket form.   However, I liked styling it with a simple black tank and jeans for an … [Read more...]
