The Pajama Blouse

I'm a little bit obsessed with the Pajama Blouse right now.  As in I want one for every day of the month. There is something about the month of December that makes me want to simultaneously wrap myself in gorgeous fabrics like soft silks,jewel-encrusted rings and velvet shoes while also being so comfortable I feel like I'm wearing loungewear.  The pajama blouse can be all those things all at once. I purchased one in an emerald plaid pajama blouse from the most recent Shopbop sale and the idea of wearing it with a pair of loafers and jeans is quite perfect for a work at home day.   Intropia Silk Pajama Blouse/NYDJ Sophia Flare Ankle Jeans/Jon Josef 'Gentry' Black Smoking Loafer (simliar)/Shein Black Horse Hair Covered Saddle Bag with Chain Strap (similar)/Romwe Silver … [Read more...]

All the Pretty Flowers

*Disclosure: TMC was not compensated for this post.  Compensation is received through affiliate links. TheMummyChronicles.com occasionally receives vendor/ brand sponsorships for mentioning their products and services. I am not into a lot of prints. That is of no surprise to anyone, is it? I think it was hearing that as a kid and then teen I was too small in stature to carry off any type of print from stripes to all the pretty flowers and any type of loud color.  I'm serious.  So breaking into the floral trend, which is so stunning in spring was hard, but I love it too much to ignore.  I'm also co-hosting with Angela from Reason to Dress, so please check her out and join in!  Don't we all need a dress this flowy and fabulous to make us feel beautiful? Paired with simple jewelry … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wear to the WAPA Rally

Last Thursday I finally crawled out from under my deathbed, finally feeling better (!) just in time to attend one of my favorite events of the year, The WAPA Rally.  WAPA is The Washington Automotive Press Association and I've been a member for a few years now. Each October we take to the roads and get to drive some of the newest, most luxurious, most fun and just plain awesome cars in the industry. This year was no exception.  I drove everything from a Mercedes-Maybach S600 to a F-Type Jaguar coupe, a Ford Explorer and Edge to a Volvo XC90 and a few more in between.  It was a glorious fall day and I was dressed to drive. In years past I have found that a mix of casual style with comfort is best for these events.  Last month it was a structured top with flare leg denim and nude … [Read more...]

Tanks & Tees

August, my time for tanks and tees is also known as a month of Sunday's. I'm always a bit sad when August rolls around. The light changes, everything seems a bit drier and I know that the carefree days of summer are speeding away. I must make the most of this time in the sun with my family and friends. My back porch beckons. The pool glistens asking for one more afternoon spent watching the girls play while I catch up on my reading. New projects for work, the house and fun call my name. There is never enough time. It makes me feel a bit of inertia. And clearly that feeling translates to my style. Last week it was all shorts and t-shirts. This week I just want to live in my tank tops and t-shirts. There is no thoughtful curating of outfits. It's what I can put on and run out the door … [Read more...]

Ripple Effect

Sometimes a girl just needs to feel pretty. That was exactly how I felt on Saturday as H and I got ready to go into the city for my birthday dinner celebration.  A gorgeous night out, strolling around the leafy sidewalks, eating delicious food and having hours of uninterrupted conversations. Something that is all too rare for us these days.  I don't know about the rest of you couples with young kids, but it totally turns my perspective around when I get that time with him.  I've already scheduled a date night for later this month.  It may not exactly be another night at Ripple, but it will be needed.   I bought this skirt from SheInside back in March and hoped I would actually be able to do more than stare at it in my closet.  When I picked the place for dinner … [Read more...]

Feeling the Blues

Not exactly what you would expect from someone feeling the blues, right? Don't worry. I'm not. While I'm often too quick to see the negative (Damn my New England pessimistic roots!) I'm just really feeling the cool tones of this light blue oxford shirt when paired with distressed denim shorts. It makes me feel like summer is fast approaching and that's my favorite time of the year. It brings to mind the best of New England and memories of summers much like this.   Watch out! It will be here before we know it!  Memorial Day is this weekend! I love these slides with the pointed toe.  They add a different, slightly more dressed up version of the slip-on sneaker that you don't see that often.  While I'm wearing them with distressed denim shorts they look great with any … [Read more...]

A Scarf Across the Pond: Swap it – Wear it!

Blogging can create some weird moments.  It creates real friendships that span the globe, business opportunities and some funny fashionable moments, like this scarf.  A scarf that went across the pond for swap it and wear it. See it peeking out underneath the rubber gloves? I received this ridiculously pretty and fun Christmas box from a blogging Secret Santa group I joined last year.  Turns out my Secret Santa was an actual friend and she sent this beautiful scarf from California with some other fabulous items.  It was such a joy and surprise to open up the box. Then, a new blog friend Angele The European Malteser in Germany asked if I wanted to swap and style an item together.  Absolutely!  I immediately styled the scarf my favorite way and sent it off to Angele for … [Read more...]

Shades of Blue

We had some beautiful weather this weekend that made everything we did feel even more special. I felt the need to bring out some denim on denim and mix and match things up. Perfect layers for the windy moments and for co-hosting with Lauren at Fizz and Frosting! And we got out to support our oldest, TD with her first ever lacrosse game. It was so much fun to watch her play after doing many months of clinics and practice. Here's to a great week! Gingham Shirt & Layers

It's finally felt like fall around here for at least a week now. I decided to layer up a gingham shirt I found in a thrift store a few years ago and pair some opaque tights with my freshly polished boots (thank you, H!) with a super comfortable t-shirt style dress I found at Target this summer.   It's become one of my favorite fall pieces.  It's lightweight and versatile making it fun to dress up or down. … [Read more...]

The Wooly Pully

We hit up the pumpkin patch on Sunday, bright and early.  It was BLUSTERY.  There is no other way to describe the low temps and winds whipping through the air.  I was all set with a cute cableknit sweater when H said, "I think you need something more."  Since the kids were already in the car I grabbed a sweater off the shelf that has seen a life very different from the one it keeps today. The Wooly Pully.   … [Read more...]
