Making Own Plates Saves Picky Eaters

As I write this I am pondering how best to give my kids a healthy but fun dinner. Tonight, I have a bit more time. I'm mixing onions, peppers and tomatoes with black beans to create a simple dinner of black bean nachos. The girls can add their own toppings once everything is heated and it is a light meal that makes dinner easier and more fun. They pile on the black olives, dollop on some sour cream and add a healthy bit of montery jack and cheddar cheese. There are three kids in my house under the age of seven and they all want to watch videos on the computer. YouTube is one of the first places my oldest will go to get her "sweet-making baking" fix but there is a tendency to skip around and end up on a totally different sort of video. The Gift of Giving- Operation Christmas Child

For as long as I can remember I have been participating in Operation Christmas Child through my church. It is a great cause and way to give something to others in a different way that goes beyond donating money and time. Operation Christmas Child is all about giving your time, showing compassion and creating something special for a child in another country, like Peru or the Dominican Republic, so that they can have just some of the small things they need. Whether it's a box loaded with tiny toys or remote plane toys like Delta Ray RTF or toiletries and socks you are giving the gift of your time spent choosing the items, packing the box with love and care while providing a smile and taking care of a need all at the same time.
