Support a Mom-Trepreneur at a Snapology Franchise this Summer

I don't know about you but by the time August rolls around our ideas of summer fun become pretty lean.  Throw in the fact that my youngest celebrates her birthday that month and everyone is so over the idea of a pool party or pretty much anything else I had in mind.  No one wants to be outside.  They all just want the cool indoors and a different sort of fun. Enter the idea of a Snapology birthday party or Snapology summer camp session from a Snapology franchise. What is Snapology? It is a mobile service for STEM learning located throughout the country that offers kids fun birthday parties, awesome afterschool programs and more. Snapology works for kids of all ages from babies to 18 years old so you can find something for everyone in your household.  … [Read more...]

Lyme Awareness & Getting Out

May, my birth month, is also Lyme Disease Awareness month. Funny, that's exactly the month that I have been bitten and contracted Lyme twice now. I always do like being timely. These days I find I'm able to make it outside more.  I'm attempting to run instead of walking and yoga.  I've been able to add strength training back into my days.  I'm seeing friends and doing things with my family that months ago I would have had to forgo.  A month ago going out for coffee would have been my only activity for the day.  Just this weekend we hit up the Cirque De Soliel show, Luzia and took in a baseball game.  A NIGHT game.  I wasn't asleep or crumpled in pain and needing a detox bath.  This is HUGE.  It is life-giving. Just look! And I got dressed in something besides leggings and … [Read more...]

The Fortieth Birthday Party

*Disclosure: Compensation is received through affiliate links.  All opinions are 100% my own. What do you get when you take Jaws, a Darth Vader cake, a healthy dose of Mommie Dearest, and a DJ? A whole LOT of FUN and my fortieth birthday party. A little pre-party champagne before heading out to my party. For me, the perfect recipe for a good time is just three things: friends, dancing and cake.  I had all that and more thanks to H and a few helpful friends who put together a night I will always remember. Months ago, H told me he wanted to throw me a party with dancing.  I immediately started thinking of party ideas.  Since it wouldn't be at our house there was room for a DJ and maybe something more.  I started a guest list of my favorite folks and a play list for the night. … [Read more...]

Ripple Effect

Sometimes a girl just needs to feel pretty. That was exactly how I felt on Saturday as H and I got ready to go into the city for my birthday dinner celebration.  A gorgeous night out, strolling around the leafy sidewalks, eating delicious food and having hours of uninterrupted conversations. Something that is all too rare for us these days.  I don't know about the rest of you couples with young kids, but it totally turns my perspective around when I get that time with him.  I've already scheduled a date night for later this month.  It may not exactly be another night at Ripple, but it will be needed.   I bought this skirt from SheInside back in March and hoped I would actually be able to do more than stare at it in my closet.  When I picked the place for dinner … [Read more...]

Birthday Wishes

You would think that as an adult I would get tired of my birthday and birthday wishes. But I don't.  Nope. No way. Each year I get as excited as a five year-old that my birthday is just around the corner.  I think of all the fun things I want to do (brunch! friends! dinner! lunch! a movie!), the people I want to surround me and then inevitably I'm asked what I want and I just clam up.  I don't want anyone to actually go through the hassle of planning anything for me or visiting over the holiday weekend.  They have plans already and it's a pain to travel. I concocted my own little shopping spree for my birthday.  A list of pretty things I love that make me smile and feel like spring.  Then, I'll probably shove my face full of food I'll run off later. Champagne, anyone?  Have a great … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday- You Say It’s Your Birthday

In honor of my BFF E's birthday today, I'm kickin' it old school with some rather scary photos of fashion past.  Scary in the fact that there is a white sweatpants incident and a lot of shapeless, bland clothing going on.  Thank God I finally embraced color! Don't worry E, you can breathe easy.  I didn't put up any of you just because it is your birthday.   I obviously grew up in a rural area, actually known as a village that didn't have a lot to do most nights.  E and I would spend hours taking craptastic photos of each other doing inane things to quell the boredom and teenage angst.  During these times it was obviously imperative to live in a world free of color?  Geeez, you would think with all the writing I did on my walls as a teen I would have done it with a colored … [Read more...]
