Five Minutes with Wendy Williams

They say everyone gets their fifteen minutes of fame. I got about five this week at the Wendy Williams "After Show". It's something new that Wendy is doing and a few other bloggers have already visited her behind the scenes, post-show. From the minute I got the email I kept wondering, "What?! Why me?" Before I knew it, H and I were NYC bound. Then in an instant we were at the studio sitting in the audience of a live taping of the Wendy Williams show. From the warm-up filled with fantastic, blasting music, being doused with piles of fake snow and guests like Jonah Hill and singer, Common (Seriously! That was like a dream guest to see and watch him perform live! I was so freakin' excited!!) it was so much fun I didn't even feel nervous about the pending interview. Then I was being taken to … [Read more...]

Randomness #817

To this day I cannot look at Mario Lopez without picturing his Saved by the Bell mullet.  Or those horrendous pants he loved to rock so much.I just realized that if you mistype 'Google' and type in boogle.com you get a whole new realm. We are in the throes of potty training with The Comedian.  Each morning she comes to the bathroom with me and tells me, "Good job, Momma! Good job!"  I now start each day with a really high opinion of myself. I adore The British Beauty Blogger. I might squeeze her hands too hard while simultaneously acting like I just won the Price is Right if I ever got to meet her.  She wrote a rather funny and true piece about Father's Day pitches that nails it.  I don't think H would really appreciate if I gave him a clarisonic face scrubber … [Read more...]

And We’re LIVE in 5,4,3,2,1!

It's here. The Graco, Ready for the Road Ahead campaign has officially launched today. For all of you (Hi Mom!) who have been waiting with baited breath for my big Graco debut you can view it in all it's glory here and my car seat demonstration here.I find it incredibly cool that while I hate watching myself and thinking, "Man! My face looks pregnant despite all that mascara and lip gloss!" that I still feel honored to be part of this whole shebang. The other bloggers are such naturals! I love Graco for their products but now also because the company and the people behind this whole project are just so wonderful and down to earth. They are the best to work with and there might even be more to come.So enjoy! Don't laugh too hard at my interviews and car seat demonstration. OK, laugh all you … [Read more...]

Dog for Sale

"Psst... Hey Lady! Get me out of this thing! Lady? Do you hear me?" I said, "GET ME OUT OF THIS DAMN METAL CAGE! NOW!!!"The whining had been going on for a solid half hour at this point. I just didn't want to give in to the inevitable jumping on the bed, scratching with talons of death and jingling of the collar that is like an alarm clock for TD."FREEDOM!!!" "You know what I'm going to do now don't you? That's right. I'm going to go over to your kids bedroom door, you know the one who is sleeping in today and I'm going to wake her butt up. RIGHT NOW! Ha ha!"Bang, bang, BANG!TD is now officially up. The plan has worked and I have been successfully thwarted by my 28 lb dog. All fury and hyper activity. To say that she missed us is an understatement. To have her wake up a sleeping-in toddler, … [Read more...]

It’s a Surreal Life Sometimes

It's been one month since H got laid off. One month of some of the strangest times we've had. From worrying about our health insurance to wondering if we'll make our mortgage payment. Oh, and then we went on vacation. And Graco came calling asking me to do a little car seat campaign for them. Then BlogHer. Just when I thought our life would return to its somewhat banal suburban existence BBC America came calling.Yeah, you heard me.BBC America. In my house.Today.What I thought was spam at first glance turned out to be an interview request. There I sat in my pajamas with my hair all askew and my morning coffee by my side just stunned, mouth probably hanging open staring at the request. My DC Metro Moms post, "Day One- I Feel Like a Statistic" had been previously picked up for syndication and … [Read more...]

Crikey, This is My Life?

After a grueling flight filled with Lost episode one like turbulence and me almost puking up my gummi bears more than once. I am in Atlanta (Hey! Atlanta bloggers!). And really? I'm trying to relax. Because, um... it is all anyone can tell me to do and with the treatment I've been getting I should be able to but it just feels so foreign to have so much free time and pampering. I mean seriously.A rundown...Actually watching the Bachelorette in real time will eating french fries with creme brulee. It's a must try dish. Reading more than one page in a book without being asked to do something or where something is? Unheard of. Am loving it.Realizing that not all drivers who arrive at my house to take me to the airport and look like this are indeed not assasins and out to kill me. That's a nice … [Read more...]
