Random Musings

If Vampires are the undead and our hair is already dead does that mean that a vamp's hair is doubly dead?  Start thinking about that type of stuff and your brain goes in circles for hours.I have a theory about Sarah Palin.  While I think she was a fairly inept governor and would make a terrible leader for our country I do believe she has great managerial skills.  Meaning, she would make a great manager at your local Wal-mart (Target is too elitist for her) or Costco.  Think about how motivating her daily speeches would be to her sales team.  She could probably make district manager in no time!  … [Read more...]

If you support him on this one, well what starts with a 'ch' and rhymes with Trump? Yeah, that's what you'll be. I just want to know when did we become so bogged down with BS like this? Was it when we went 24/7 with the news? Is the internet to blame? Did the Lewinsky mess just catapult us over into full-time "we need a scandal" mode and establish a new realm of disrspect for the President and its office? We can't have things both ways. We can't demand … [Read more...]

On Rush Limbaugh and FLOTUS

My undies are in a bunch this week on a few things and all of them round back to our dear FLOTUS, Michelle Obama.First up- her cause to eat right and get moving. The woman is trying to combat the epidemic of unhealthy eating and living that we as a country seem to think is our right.  Is nothing more American than eating a giant Big Mac with a boat load of fries or sipping on a Big Gulp?  To some people, it is their given right as an American to load up on the fat, sugar and sodium- health be damned.  It's a disease, an addiction for some and for others economical factors play a huge role in not being able to eat in a balanced, healthy manner.  Mrs. Obama's campaign is to educate and create a dialog as well as resources to get a balanced diet into all of us.  Our … [Read more...]

Open Your Ears & Minds. It’s Your Country at Stake.

Reprinted from DC Metro Moms.  It's part two in my week long social/social media experiment.  Results are forthcoming.January, 1961 John F. Kennedy asked the following question during his inaugural address, "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country." Forty-nine years later the same question is still being asked. Not by a President this time but by our very own citizens of this great country.Looking back, I find it interesting to note that Kennedy proposed this during the early sixties. Times were indeed a'chan-gin' and it would give way to less of the "greatest generation's" mindset of service and being bound to our communities but to the "me" generation, the 1970s and 80s, a time full of self-fulfillment, … [Read more...]

I Have Issues

Clearly, I have issues.  I realized this at two different times today.  First, I yelled at the gym television that was playing Fox "news".  I yelled, "Shut the F*ck up!  You are so IGNORANT!"  I mumbled something about "fallacies, bad research and fair and balanced my ass" when I realized that my right hand was extending and giving Fox the bird.  It seems I have some built up testosterone in my system this week.  The cold that has be flagging has also taken me away from any gym time.  I didn't make it to kickboxing. I haven't gone on any runs either.  The idea of Body Pump or Boxing is just laughable.  I kept thinking if I just took it easy, as much as you can with two small kids, I would feel better.  The. Cold. Is. Still. … [Read more...]

Civics 101, Please.

Come closer.  Closer.  That's it.  Now, let me school ya on something.  Obama? You know, that man that was elected President?  He's been in office for a little over 320 days now and he hasn't accomplished ANYTHING, has he?  Geezy-peets! No, he hasn't.  It's all I hear, all the time.  It makes me "smash your forehead into a hard surface" angry.  I want to ask them if they thought Obama would pay off their mortgage or car loan too when he was elected into office.  Oh wait. They didn't vote for him.  That's what it is.  Fine.  That's fine.  That doesn't bother me. To each their own.  What gets me it is that no one seems to remember Civics 101.  Like I said in 'I Am Not Un-American', things do not happen over … [Read more...]

Musings to Avoid a Thankful Post

As I sat in church yesterday and listened to the pastor talk about how many of us might feel that this year we don't have much to be thankful for I couldn't help but agree with just a small twinge of regret. It's not that we are in bad shape. We aren't. We have two healthy children. We have a roof over our heads and friends and family nearby. Yet, somehow I just haven't felt that thankful. In some ways it has been a bit of a rough year and I'm ready for it to be over. I'm happy the holidays are upon us signaling the end of 2009. In hopes that 2010 brings better things. While I construct my list of what I am thankful for (yes, I'm doing that kind of post.) I leave you with these musings.I think the the new 2010 white Jeep Liberty's looks like Storm Troopers. The picture doesn't do it … [Read more...]

My Parenting Skills Sucketh

1. I believe in teaching TD about caring for her planet. She knows how to recycle. She, uh-oh, likes it. Shh....2. She wants to eat her veggies so she won't um, cough up blood or anything.3. She likes to donate her time and money to worthy and valuable causes. Which, according to Glen Beck makes me a communist. I'm teaching my little comrade, er kid, to shill the White House creed. It's not that I'm teaching her to be a decent human being or anything. Nope, I'm just tainting her as I'm brainwashed by Hollywood, television and Obama. Le Sigh. While I don't love the idea that it takes 30 Rock, Ashton Kutcher or a day at Disney (that's not really what it's about, now is it?) to get people to donate their time to a good cause I am willing to admit that for some this is the best … [Read more...]

A Public Service Announcement from the Tiny Dictator

Obsess much? Oh yes, she does. TD has taken a strong liking to one particular candidate. So much so that two weeks ago when the back of Obama's head (the back!) was on the cover of Newsweek she said, "Is that Barack Obama?" If TV time is desperately needed (I am nine months large after all) and nothing kid-friendly is on? She will happily watch the 24/7 paid advertisement the Obama campaign is running here in our state. She knows his voice from a radio spot and can pick him out no matter where she is. She might even have a career in politics if we could get that hair under control. She is already placing blame on the runner up in our house, the dog Lex. Today, she claimed, "Lex peed on my bed last night." Sounds like a Watergate style break-in in the making despite the dog having … [Read more...]
