Driving Your Car Into a River Does Not Make You Crazy

Lashanda Armstrong drove her four kids into the Hudson river last week, drowning herself and all but one child. Andrea Yates killed her children by drowning them in the bathtub. She thought they were possessed by demons. Banita Jacks killed her daughters last year and then lived for months with their decomposing bodies in her home. Are these women mentally disturbed or is something else going on?As I listened to 'Tell Me More', during my car ride down south, I was riveted by the topic that we women, mothers mainly, need to open up more and speak out about these feelings that are sometimes so dark and towards our children.http://www.npr.org/v2/?i=Going beyond two rounds of postpartum depression I can fully admit to having moments where as a mother I just wanted to run for the hills. My Plans for World Domination

I received a text from H this morning reading, "I don't know if you knew this but there are three open jars of marinara sauce in the fridge right now.  I think they have started breeding."Upon receipt all I could think was, "Excellent! My plan is working! (insert evil laugh and much twisting of my imaginary handlebar mustache.)  Soon the entire fridge will be stocked only with marinara sauce and the world... will...be.... MINE!!!!"  (Insert more evil bwaahaaahaaaing here and rubbing my hands in glee.).  Except that is the problem with texting and email. That stuff just doesn't translate and you end up sounding like some sort of crackpot.   *image from smalldog.files.wordpress.com … [Read more...]

Fast.I unpacked the groceries, skipping over the black ice, fed the kids lunch and then put them down for naps.  Instead of running to my laptop to get work done, putting away laundry, toys or cleaning up other areas of the house and our life, I grabbed a copy of Elle and a cup of coffee.  Then I sat my butt down on the couch and read the rest of the magazine, which … [Read more...]

Confirmed! Am Not Crazy!

After polling my neighbors and pestering them with questions (because that is not crazy lady behavior)yesterday about strange rattlings, tremors, and general thumps and bumps in the night I found one neighbor who confirmed that the house did shake and there was a tap, tap, tapping sound. Or as he put it, "as if someone was moving furniture in front of the house but outside..."Yup. So glad it was not a poltergeist or something full of fun like that. Heh.Now I'm off to suck down coffee in large gulps and munch pastry while listening to songster Mr. Skip and hopefully see this fun lady.Giveaway on Mummy's Product Reviews in effect!
