Importance Of Dentistry Toward Your Overall Health

It's easy to forget about the importance of dentistry, especially since going to the dentist is a scary event for some. But the truth of the matter is, your oral health is just as important as any other aspect of your health. Therefore, it's important to make sure you're teaching your kids that, too. Parenting is not always easy, but this small aspect of it can be! Why are people avoiding the dentist? One of the biggest reasons why people don't go to the dentist is because very little is covered without insurance. This is especially during a time like this when a lot of people are out of work due to the pandemic. As a result, many people are losing insurance benefits and it's likely that even if the dentist's offices were open, no one would be going out of fear of the coronavirus … [Read more...]

Thinking of Doing a Juice Cleanse? Here’s Why You Might Want to Save Your Money

For many busy families, a glass of juice is a necessary way to start off the day. In fact, the average American drank 2.7 gallons of OJ throughout 2015 -- so it's clear that fruit juice is still a popular addition to breakfast. Many moms will even opt for a fruit smoothie in lieu of cereal or toast, citing it gives them more energy throughout the day. But while juicing can be delicious and nutritious in moderation, trendy juice cleanses are a different story. Although they may be popular, experts say that they're largely unnecessary and, in some cases, could even be harmful to your health. At first blush, the idea of a juice cleanse may sound intriguing. Just drink some yummy fruit juice for a set number of days to lose weight and feel amazing! It's supposed to give your system a fresh … [Read more...]

Fuel Up with Power Smoothies

It's that time of year again! It's time to start thinking about New Year's resolutions, hitting the gym extra or you know, just taking a brisk walk outside.  All those holiday indulgences might be hitting you hard in the hips, stomach, and jeans.  I have a friend who calls the time between Christmas and New Year's Eve "toxin' time" because as of January 1 we all want to detox from it. Whenever I want to clean up my diet (by diet I mean what I am eating daily, not some program to lose weight) I start the day with a smoothie.  I do all types, I mix in fruit, vegetables, protein powders, flax seeds, chia seeds, yogurt, I could go on.  Each type fuels the style workout I am going to do that day or rebuilds my body after I have exercised. … [Read more...]

Do Work

I don't even know where to begin.  But sometime between losing the house, Halloween and now I fell off the workout/eat healthy wagon. HARD. I became complacent.  I would throw on my workout clothes and then, "meh..." shower.  Part of me wanted to remove fitness from my site and just continue to rifle through old trick or treat bags and yell with a full mouth, "Bring on the pie and Thanksgiving treats!  Where's all my holiday baking?!" Thankfully, I had some motivation come my way in the last two weeks. … [Read more...]

Paleo Cleanse- 30 Day Detox

The holiday season is probably the worst time to take on the challenge of going paleo.  I fully admit, it adds an extra layer of difficulty.  January 1st or let's just face it, the 2nd is more realistic.  Am I right? Except that when I got the book Paleo Cleanse by Camilla Carboni and Melissa Van Dover it was after stuffing my face full of Halloween candy and with the thought of Thanksgiving coming up I just knew I needed to refine my eating habits to get back on track.  This seemed ideal. … [Read more...]

Finding Your Fitness Motivation

I freely admit that every once in a while I fall off the workout bandwagon. My fitness motivation just gets deleted. I don't actually stop working out I just end up shortening the duration of my work outs.  A combination of factors creates these mini-workouts.  Our daily schedule gets crowded, I lost track of time in the morning and by afternoon our schedule doesn't allow me a moment alone much less time to sweat.  Getting to the gym?  The travel time kills my motivation before I even grab my gym bag.  Three weeks will go by and suddenly I'm eating in a not so healthy way, the workouts get even shorter and then I can't even do the ones I did just a month before without getting totally winded and spent for the day. Let's face it. I'm not 22 or even 32.  The body changes rapidly but doesn't … [Read more...]

Gluten-Free Snacks with Van’s Crackers & Usana Bars

Disclaimer: TMC was not paid for this post.  Products received are for review purposes only. Opinions are TMC's only.    After going gluten-free over a year ago it has been challenging to find snacks that are not only healthy but also taste good too.  Price is also a factor, especially after buying one too many boxes of bad tasting, funny texture snacks that just left me feeling disappointed, frustrated and hungry.  This summer I was sent two brands that provide healthy snack alternatives that are also gluten-free.  … [Read more...]
