#SpringItOn with MinuteClinic

The rains came. For many when rain comes it is a welcome relief from the pollen and symptoms from allergies. For me, it is the total opposite. While I feel a minor itchiness or red, scratchy eyes on sunny days my real irritation is when the rain pours down and everything is being washed away. I totally thought that was the case this week when we had rainy day after rainy day. Turns out it was not allergies but a cold. Absolutely no fun. Except the first day I couldn't tell the difference. I loaded myself up on my "Allergy Arsenal" and was frustrated when I felt worse as the day dragged on. So how can you tell the difference between an allergy and a cold? I've teamed up with MinuteClinic to break it down for you as well as offer pointers on dealing with those pesky spring … [Read more...]

Go Back to School with MinuteClinic

*Disclosure: TMC was paid to go to Blogher 2013 by MinuteClinic.  Opinions and thoughts are TMC's only.    The crayons, pencils, notebooks and book bags are all stowed away for the next two weeks but soon they will see the light of day. That goes double for the new  clothes that hang neatly in the closet or lay folded in a drawer. The summer sun may still be heating up our days but there is no doubt about it, school is just around the corner. … [Read more...]

Get a Summer Camp Physical with MinuteClinic

There are only two weeks left of school and before I know it I will be ironing the name tag labels into my daughter's summer camp clothes. The forms for camp had been filled out, the check for payment mailed long ago but the camp physical was still left undone. … [Read more...]

#NoTimeforFlu

The flu, it already hit our house a few weeks back and I was not prepared. The minute I realized that was why my youngest was feeling so low I went into action. As a busy family of five no one wants the flu to spread and Mom and Dad certainly don't have time to waste laying in bed shaking with the chills or burning up with a fever. Life must go on! Here's how we combat the flu in our house. Not sure if it is the flu or a cold?  Here are the flu symptoms and what to do if you or a family member gets sick. While it has already happened in our house, only one person got sick. I was so busy washing my hands, keeping everyone else away and wiping down everything she touched that I think we were saved. Next, WE ALL GET THE FLU VACCINE. We are heading to MinuteClinic this flu … [Read more...]

Ready Set Camp!

As the school year wraps up we are in a whirlwind of end-of-the-year activities and with all the picnics, ceremonies, pool parties, recitals I'm having a hard enough time making sure I stay  on top of each day and send each kid off with the proper clothing, sunscreen, bug spray and snacks. For snacks, I usually make them sandwiches using a french baguette loaf, ham, and as much vegetables my kids can tolerate. However, as I dropped them off yesterday I thought, "It's like I'm sending them off to camp and not school." CAMP!   That's right! In two weeks my oldest starts the summer by going to camp.  I'm not sure I'm totally prepared either. It's a good thing I'm working with MinuteClinic to get me in #ReadySetCamp mode!  And I'm not just talking about the camp physicals you can … [Read more...]

The Flu is Never in Fashion

Yesterday I took this sweet little girl to her four-year check-up.  Yes, indeed time is flying by at a rapid pace.  She spent the morning practicing writing her name and chose just the right glittery shirt and matching leggings before her doctor visit. I marveled at how fast she is growing up, especially when she took all her shots, including her flu mist vaccination, without so much as batting an eye.  A simple breathe in through the nose, breathe out through the mouth and she was set. One family member down, four more to go! … [Read more...]

Go Back to School Healthy

The flyers came slipping out of the Sunday morning paper yesterday, full of brightly colored photos of notebooks, pencils and markers. All shiny and new, ready to be purchased at the lowest marked price. "It's back to school season already!" they shouted. Beckoned really, like a sirens call. I'm not really ready for it. … [Read more...]

The Challenge to Change

Disclosure:  TMC was sponsored by MinuteClinic to attend Blogher 2013.  Reviews are done without compensation and all opinions are my own.  I can't think of a better time to get back into a challenging new workout or change-up one than after a trip. Whether it is for work or vacation your body is ready for something different when you return home.  It might be something you dread at first (ME! I DO!) but if you just push yourself to get started, to put on the clothes, go outside or into the gym to a class you have never tried before, you will discover a new energy that you did not have prior to that workout.  Trust me, it's true.  New energy and exhilaration mixed with exhaustion but still Awesome with a capital 'A'. … [Read more...]
