Whatcha Wearing Wednesday- Boo at the Zoo with Ugg

Disclosure: TMC was given shoes courtesy of Ugg Australia as well as tickets to Boo at the Zoo as part of review. No compensation was received. Opinions are TMC's only. Why do I love what I do? For moments like the one my family and I enjoyed this past Saturday night when we got the chance to go to the sold-out Boo at the Zoo at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. While I have always wanted to take the girls I wasn't into the whole toting wee ones around in the dark past bedtime, but they are older now. When Ugg Australia contacted me last week asking if the whole family wanted to pick out some new shoes and trek around tricking and treating at the zoo, I did not hesitate. … [Read more...]

Zootopia

I don't typically review movies or do a lot of kid-oriented things in this space anymore, but I could not resist Zootopia.  My girls repeatedly asked about this flick since they first viewed a trailer back in the fall and I had to admit it looked pretty funny. All About It  Zootopia,   a modern mammal metropolis. The colors, the way the animators created a city that comprises the habitats of all the various creatures on the planet and used their features to incorporate them into the buildings and surroundings drew me in as well as the kids.   Neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown show how Zootopia is a melting pot of an environment where all are welcome and thrive.  A great message anytime, but it’s particularly timely during this election year.  Just me?  I dare … [Read more...]

My Favorite Finds this Holiday Season

shacket shopbop

unsplash by @kellysikkema The 2020 year has been nothing but one surprise after another. It will go on record as truly historical.  I think we can all agree on that one.  The more things change the more things stay the same though and this blog is no different.  While there may be more pandemic posts than I would like and fewer bits of fun I couldn't resist putting together some of my favorite items to kick off the holiday season. The Shacket (I know! It's not a great name but it is a totally great item for your wardrobe!) What is it?  It's a shirt and a jacket. Get it?  A Shacket! Perfect for this time of year.  I love the versatility and pure comfort of the Shacket.  Shopbop has some fun ones too.  Take advantage of the sale going on right now.  I think the pink plaid by Stand … [Read more...]

News, Notes, & 1950s Fashion

What's new with all you quarantina's this week?  Still staying cozy, baking, and zooming?  Me either.  I'm done. I am so officially done. I'm not complaining because I do actually like not driving my kids ninety-bazillion places each day and barely taking time to eat or read a book or talk with my spouse.  I like our quiet evenings at home where we aren't in a rush for showers and mid-week fire pits are now a thing. However, I'm so over my roots, missing my friends, and not seeing family.  That part blows. News Then this happened this past weekend.  This has not sucked.  It has been a ray of hope and sunshine and grace.  Not going to lie, it's also a nice distraction for the kids right about now. Meet Gracie.  Everyone needs a little grace.  So far as Gracie comes out of her … [Read more...]

Cycle And Vacation At The Same Time By Visiting These Bike-Friendly Cities

Vacations are an opportunity to get away from your normal life and daily routine, but that doesn't mean you have to slack on your fitness routine while you're away from home. Cities across the United States are cyclist-friendly and some even offer bike-sharing programs and trails that are specially designed for bikes. In 2015, the bicycle industry in the United States earned $6.2 billion in direct sales. In this large of an industry, there are many opportunities to cycle across the country. Just make sure you stay safe and stick to the designated paths to avoid accidents, but if you happen to unfortunately get into an accident then you should make sure you find a reliable bicycle accident lawyer or personal injury lawyer to help you win your claims against the person responsible. A … [Read more...]

Signature Style

Having a signature style, something that it totally you, is important.  It brings confidence when dressing and making decisions when styling anything from you to your home from the living room to your room that can have a big and organized wardrobe thanks to Mr Wardrobe services as well.  I've been told I'm hard to shop for and while I hate to believe that since I showcase so much of what I love right here on TMC, it might be true.  My signature style is classic chic with a bit of an edge thrown in some days. … [Read more...]

Daily Denim

I love a good pair of jeans. It doesn't matter who makes them or what the price is for them, if they fit and wear well through the day, I'm going to wear the heck out of them. Last month I was sent a pair of Lee Jeans of my choosing. I picked out the PLATINUM LABEL PERFECT FIT Stella Skinny Jean in Rinse. They are a nice addition to my fitted and straight leg collection. They sit lower on the waist than most Lee brand jeans, so the Mom jean fear is gone, and the denim is super soft.  They don't sag or stretch out over the course of the day either. I'm kind of in love with the compression in them too.  Honestly, who isn't this time of year? … [Read more...]

mini Boden Goes Back to School

Only 6 more days left of summer vacation and we have been packing in the fun. We took a little break though to bring you this super cute back to school set from mini Boden. Can we stop for a minute and have a chat? I'm so in love with Boden. And mini Boden? Well, that is just an extension that has made me glad I have three kids to dress up in the really simple but stylish and well-made clothes. The fabrics are soft, wear well and the kids love the comfy feeling of the denim leggings like no other. I like that each piece can be mixed and matched up with another tunic, dress or pair of pants in no time and can get passed on down the kiddie line and not look worn to death. Indulge me as I post our favorite looks. The wise owl knows good style for the preschool set. The purple denim leggings … [Read more...]

Oooh It’s Planet Spooky at Kings Dominion

Disclosure:  TMC was not paid for this post. Products and tickets received are for review purposes only.  Opinions are TMC's only. The only roller coaster I will ride. I will fully admit that I'm not an amusement park person.  Actually, it is more that I'm not a ride person.  My kids and husband on the other hand possess a gene for thrill rides, coasters and all things theme park that I just can't handle.  However, I do love spending the day in the park, eating all the food I can cram into my mouth (Kings Dominion has gluten free options too) and riding the kiddie rides that make-up Planet Snoopy.  Yes, really. That's how lame I am when it comes to these things.  My kids are little and for now a day spent at Kings Dominion in Doswell, VA doesn't go much beyond Snoopy's world and … [Read more...]
