Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
We have a lot of love here in our house (most days) and the girls love for their American Girl dolls is no exception. The cannot get enough of them or their cute accessories. I’ll cop to being a total enabler too. That’s why we were so excited to welcome Gabriela McBride, the 2017 Doll of the Year, into our home.

My middle girl fell in love with Gabby, as we call her, instantly. She couldn’t stop talking about her and her cute signature outfit, her warm brown eyes and how she shares the same name as her own best friend. She wanted her bad. Just watch the video.
What the girls love about this particular doll, she created more excitement in our home than dolls in the previous years, is her activist personality and love of creating. Whether it is poetry, art, music or dance Gabriela is always on the move and exploring new ways to be creative.
The book that each doll comes with is a always a great story. This time Gabby must fight to save her local community center from closing. It teaches kids that they can have impact even though they are small. It doesn’t matter, their voices will be heard and they can make a difference for a cause that they believe in.
Gabriela comes with:

- A fitted pair of dark-blue jeggings to keep her comfy

I have to say that one of the BIG reasons that I love American Girl dolls is that it is not only a toy that all my girls play with (ages 11, 8, 6) together but they seldom fight when they do it. While they all like to create story lines, adventures and even videos with their dolls; in different ways they do it together. No other toy in our home creates that sense of togetherness. None. It’s magical and I’ll keep buying them until they tell me they have had enough. The memories they are creating with each other are priceless too.
