Work Wear Wednesday: Styling Black Pants

I have said it before and I will say it again and again.  You can never go wrong with basics.  This month I am all about them and keeping life simple and that starts with styling black pants.

The ‘basics rule’ is never more practical and easy to follow than with work wear.  Whether you are starting out your work wardrobe, need to simplify it or freshen it up, the basics are where it is at, and no piece is more versatile than a pair of black pants.

First, find the style that is most flattering on you. It may be a pair of ankle pants or a wide-leg cut. If you are like me then it depends on the season and the mood. I like a slim cigarette style cut for all year and a wide-leg trouser cut for the colder months when I want to wear heeled boots and change things up.

This week I’m working with a fantastic array of bloggers on Work Wear Wednesday: How to Style Black Pants with a work wear slant. (#workwearwednesday started by Thirty Something Fashion) See them all here:

My version is obviously- KEEP IT SIMPLE.  In the winter I hate feeling weighed down with accessories and extra layers.

This picture- Can we say freezing?  27 degrees outside and taken just before the snow from #snowzilla2016 started to fall.

This cashmere turtleneck (January is SALES time for Cashmere! STOCK UP NOW!) is one of my favorites but I seldom pull it out of the closet for some reason.  I think February will be seeing it a lot more.  Adding this faux fur scarf from Joules adds texture and a richer element.  No statement necklace needed!

Add a pop of color (your favorite or most flattering) to your black pants to keep the look fresh and never boring. Black pants with a turtleneck sweater is a great time to experiment with an on-trend color.

leopardpumps

So I love with these leopard pumps from Sole Society!  I received them for Christmas and I cannot get over how comfortable they are and while lighter in color than many styles they are just as versatile.

love the red and leopard. I suggested leopard shoes in my post..they are a great way to inject FUN into a simple outfit- without going crazy. Love yours- the pointy toe is perfection. Great look. Thanks for joining in the workwear fun! Happy Wednesday. C

Your style is always elegant while keeping it simple and you always wear basics so well. My favorite style of black pants is a cigarette style too or like the famous Pixie ones from Old Navy. Your basic black trousers are definitely elevated with the red turtleneck, gorgeous red heels and that amazing fur scarf.

I will check out all the other moms, too.

So gorgeous in red and I love the fur scarf.
Those are my favorite kind of dressy black pants. Wish I could fit into mine, in the future! xo
