5 Tips for Staying Motivated Exercising Indoors

I woke up to temperatures in the mid-thirties this morning and I just wasn’t prepared. My outdoor run turned into an indoor sweat session.  It’s totally perfect for today’s guest post by fitness expert Amy Dixon who is offering up tips to motivate your own indoor work out.

So what are those super tips for staying motivated – and fit – indoors?

  1. Set a goal (but be realistic) – Studies have shown that having a ‘prize to shoot’ for help us achieve better results.  What’s your prize?  Looking good for your wedding?  High School reunion?  Bikini season?  Setting a goal is the first step toward reaching it.  So what are the characteristics of a great fitness goal to set?
  1. Pick a buddy – Few things are more motivating than that pal that kicks us in the butt and keeps us going, even when we’ve fallen off track.  Being accountable to a real person changes the game and improves our odds for success.
  1. Use Your Tech – Today in the world of apps and technology, there is a myriad list of tools one can leverage to stay motivated in the gym.  From music and tracking apps like Motion Traxx to Apple Watches and FitBits.  What’s the best tool for your indoor workout? In addition to wearable tech, you should also consider upgrading your active wear to help boost your confidence.

Motion Traxx (www.MotionTraxx.com) is a fitness app that motivates you to push your best so you can feel your best.  It combines audio coaching by fitness trainers with music that perfectly matches your workout’s intensity.  It’s like having a fitness class in your earbuds.

  1. Tell the World (Your World) – Declaring your goals to your close circle creates an instant support network for your goal.  Yet, most people fear ‘going public’ with their goals.
  1. Pat Yourself On the BackTracking your workouts, acknowledging your progress and personal sacrifices can make a big difference to staying on track toward your goal.  Heck, you can even give yourself tasty rewards in the form of a cheat meal.
