DailyLook Elite vs. Stitch Fix

I’m a junkie for packages arriving in the mail.  I would rather buy things online and wait the time it takes to return them to shop in a store.  With three kids and limited time who needs that hassle?  I sound like a bad infomercial, I know, but I’m a perfect candidate for those subscription box services.  Aren’t I?

After months of receiving both DailyLook Elite and Stitch Fix boxes, I’m not so sure.  Maybe, they are for people who aren’t so sure of their style or want to experiment a bit.  I get that, and that’s why I signed up.  So which one is better DailyLook or Stitch Fix?

Let’s see look at the boxes.  First up, Stitch Fix.

Stitch Fix Box 6
I could not get a good picture of this Double Strap Tank but found it on DabbleinChic.com.

VERDICT: I kept nothing from the Stitch Fix box.  I loved the Dolman striped top but I won’t wear it for months due to it being a sweater and I just couldn’t justify it sitting in my closet that long. The tank is a print that overpowers me and not my style.  The jeans are the same as the sweater. I had asked for colored pants and received light denim. As for the dress it did nothing for me but make me look bland.  I can’t wear nudes that much.  It washes me out. What I love about Stitch Fix is that the stylist will look at your blog, if you have one, and your Pinterest boards before sending out your box.  The outfit cards are fantastic and I keep them in my closet in a file for future reference. DailyLook does not do that.  Prices are always in my range and the styles typically fit but are often too full of prints for my taste. Unless it is a solid color I send it back and leave detailed notes for the stylist who is often not the same person.  Fee per box: $20.
Next, is The DailyLook Elite.
DailyLook Elite Box #4

The VERDICT:With DailyLook Elite I get a lot of neutrals.  That’s their way and I like it.  They are very minimalist and have a slightly more of an edge or avant-garde style to their clothes. Their array of Vegan Leather bags is amazing, sumptuous and gorgeous. I always want the bag. Always.  I liked a lot of what they sent me this time around. I just couldn’t justify another pair of long sleeve shirts or jeans.  No outfits cards with this service.  Just a note from the stylist.  For me, I get nothing. I used to get notes but after not buying items for the last few boxes suggestions in the notes are not even given.  That gets a black mark.  I’ve been really explicit about how my days work and what I can and cannot wear.  We are five boxes in and still figuring each other out.
For me, a person with a strong sense of what works style-wise and what doesn’t, these boxes can be more frustrating than fun.  I get excited to open them and then feel let down.  I love checking out new styles but often am left with a feeling of not being understood.  I’m skipping next month on both and continuing to add pins to my boards for Stitch Fix and adding items to my wish list for DailyLook.  Hopefully, the next round will be better.

I’ve wondered about Stitch Fix, but have never heard of the other one. It seems hit or miss with them from what I’ve heard from others. I tried Le Tote for a couple of months and loved it. But you pick out what they send you. I know the whole idea of the others subscription boxes is for a stylist to do that part for you.

I’ve wondered about Stitchfix and like Julie I’ve never heard of the other. I agree about maybe they’re good for people that don’t know how to step out of the box… I’d like to try something someday.
Thanks for sharing, I appreciate someones honest review.
Oh and I’m TOTALLY the same about getting boxes in the mail. 🙂

Prior to subscribing to Daily Look Elite box, I was an online shopper on their website and never had any problems. However, their monthly subscription has been a complete fail. I became a member in September and received my first box 6 WEEKS later. After calling to find out what happened, I was placed on hold for over an hour only to find out an item for my big was backordered but no one ever called/emailed to update me. I overlooked that encounter hoping that October’s shipment would be better. Needless to say, it was not and when I called to express my concern, I was again put on hold for over an hour. The customer service at Daily Look is awful in comparison to Stitchfix and it sounds like their customer service reps are working from home with people talking in the background and all types of static/noise in the background. I’ve cancelled my membership indefinitely.
