The Flu is Never in Fashion

Yesterday I took this sweet little girl to her four-year check-up.  Yes, indeed time is flying by at a rapid pace.  She spent the morning practicing writing her name and chose just the right glittery shirt and matching leggings before her doctor visit. I marveled at how fast she is growing up, especially when she took all her shots, including her flu mist vaccination, without so much as batting an eye.  A simple breathe in through the nose, breathe out through the mouth and she was set.

One family member down, four more to go!

I wasn’t always a big believer in the flu shot.  In fact, the first time I got a flu shot it was for a writing job with MinuteClinic and I did it to prove to my kids that shots aren’t scary.  And guess, what?  I didn’t get the flu that year.  Something that had never happened to me before. I was a believer from there on out.

Since school has started I have been crazy adamant about everyone washing their hands with soap and water.  We cover our mouths with our sleeves and do the “vampire” cough when we cough.  I try to keep everyone away from anyone who is sick but that’s only so much.  The flu shot is needed and it’s easier than ever to get one.  Who wants to stop working out, being able to do the nine-million things we women do every day or have a little (ages 18 months and up can pop into MinuteClinic for a flu shot) one home sick?  No one.  Not anyone.

Besides, it’s not very fashionable to be sick or pass on the flu to your loved ones or anyone else. So roll up that cute button down and don’t wear tight sleeves and get you and the whole family in for this year’s flu shot!  You will be so glad you took the time to pop in because everyone has ten minutes to spare, if they try, but not everyone has the three to five days to recuperate from a bout with the flu.

BONUS!  BONUS! Customers will receive a 20% off CVS/pharmacy Shopping pass when
they get a flu shot at CVS/pharmacy or MinuteClinic.  That means that new nail color I’ve been coveting is probably going to make it into the basket faster than even the flu shot can be administered.

Time flies by so quickly with little ones! I can not wait until my little one can handle the vacs like a champ. Right now, it’s huge alligator tears and looking at me like I have betrayed him….breaks my heart.
