Fall Reading

I’m not one for crafts or going crazy with decorations but I do love to dive into books year round. For some reason maybe it has something to do with the start of the a new school year, I become obsessed with new books for the family every fall. Especially if the books have to do with fall.

Bramble and Maggie: Spooky Season by Jessie Haas and illustrated by Alison Friend is one of those books.  A great way to introduce chapter books to your child this book is geared for ages 5-8. This book is part of a series of Bramble and Maggie adventures.  I loved the illustrations, the way the characters learned to trust each other and build a strong friendship was sweet.  It shows bravery and beautiful autumnal scenes too.

The Worst Witch to the Rescuewritten and illustrated by Jill Murphy is a spectacular story (ages 8-12) about Mildred Hubble, also known as the worst student at Miss Cackle’s Academy for Witches.  Perfect for kids who love magic and new adventures this book if full of life. It offers up  a very likable main character and is part of the Worst Witch series.  My oldest daughter read it in two days.

This book may seem like it has nothing to do with fall but I tend to amp up my running in the cooler autumn months. That means I need to stretch more and add in a few new techniques.  Trigger Point Therapy with the Foam Roller by Dr. Karl Knopf is an easy way to incorporate new exercises into your daily routine or start something different altogether.  It’s versatile and opens up healing powers using your foam roller and your body weight to do things like break up knots, relieve tension and increase flexibility.  My IT-band is better for it.

Happy Reading!
