Back to Basics

This year I am all about going back to the basics. It is simple, classic style that never fades but can be punched up with a sprinkling of trends. By adding in a bit of today with all the traditional looks you can shop new places and discover a whole side of you and your closet that branches out into accessories and shoes too. It makes getting dressed each day a whole lot more fun!

LOOK ONE

Think your basic collared shirt or button down paired with distressed jeans.  Now toss the traditional white or light blue shirt and make it coral or mint!  Feeling a bit more casual?  Take those same jeans and mix it up with a graphic tee like the ones from rue21 and toss a blazer over the top.  It banks on a more youthful trend that still doesn’t date you or look like you are trying too hard. It’s easy, breezy casual style.  Change that look up swapping out the jeans with pixie style fitted pants in a bold spring color like cobalt blue or raspberry pink.  You now have three looks in just minutes that can be worn over a few seasons too.

Sweet and Simple Summer Fashion

LOOK TWO
Palazzo pants or wide-leg trousers are back big time this season. I have waited for so long for this style to come back. It reminds me of old Hollywood and stars like Katherine Hepburn and Marlene Deitrich.  Nothing says elegant style like a pair of palazzo pants in summer.  You can style it with a simple tank or sleeveless blouse that works for everyday work wear.  Add your favorite printed tee shirt in to dress it down. These pants are also a good time to test the waters on the crop top trend.  Trust me it looks more chic than you think. Today’s crop tops often sit lower on the stomach and hit just below the navel.  Matched with a set of high-waisted palazzo pants are wide-leg trousers in almost any fabric and you have a modern take on an old-school look. Remember that both of these types of pants can be worn with flats, heels or chunky sandals.
