Oh the weather outside is frightful… Sing it with me!!

My Facebook feed keeps showing that everyone in my surrounding area is about to collectively lose their mind when it comes to Old Man Winter. My status updates are getting dangerously close to a last woman standing scenario.

As I type this I’m butting up against deadlines left and right and watching the snow fall quietly outside. It’s still beautiful but not as beautiful as the warm sun will be for me later this week. I had to change things up, add some old world glamour and deck myself out in pearls as a counter-attack to all my basic black.  A dig through my closet for summery clothes unearthed this striped dress.  Layering a turtleneck underneath and adding a cashmere sweater over it showed off a cute stripe skirt look that brought forth the luster of the pearls.

I realized this week that what I pack in toiletries is almost as important to me as the clothes I pack for any trip.  It shouldn’t come as a surprise since I write about makeup and other products all the time but it did.  I’m in love with this new Stay Matt lip crème  in Silky Red from essence.  It’s soft on the lips, doesn’t bleed and goes on smooth like a cream lipstick but has a matte finish that isn’t drying.  Did you hear that?  No chapped lips with a matte lipstick!  At $2.99 from Ulta it is a steal too!

I’ve begun swiping on self-tanner and decided that a bit of PRTTY PEAUSHUN Skin Tight Body Lotion ($26, 8 oz) by Celebrity Makeup Artist Bethany Karlyn is just what my pale little body needs after not seeing the sun in so many months.  It comes in a 3 oz. travel size eco-friendly tube that fits nicely into my travel bag.

Yes, it is exactly what superstar trainer Tracy Anderson uses for her photo shoots.  It slims you down and highlights all your good spots.  Celebs like Rihanna use it all the time for the red carpet too.  I like to apply it on my collar bone, shoulders and backs of my arms.  My muscles look more defined and that’s always a good thing.  I like that it is 100% Vegan, no parabens and 100% natural.

To fight frizz and deflated travel hair I’m enlisting some Toni&Guy Volume Plumpin Whip and Glamour Firm Hold Hair Spray to get the job done.  The whip is slightly sticky, which I don’t love, but a little goes a long way. If you have fine hair I would use a quarter of what the jar suggests.  If not, you risk having heavy, weighed down hair.  The hair spray however works without a hitch and the perfumed scent dissipates within a few minutes.  The fact that I can pick it up at Target just makes it that much better.

You know what? Next week, I bet I can almost guarantee a break from the layers, boots and general cranky attitude.  Ooh! There might even be real pictures of what I’m wearing instead of recreations via Polyvore!  How about that?  I know.  So special.  But seriously, link up!  Inspire me, inspire others. Show us what you are wearing.  We don’t care if it is Wednesday or not!
