Whatcha Wearing Wednesday – Summer Color Block

I love color blocking when I see it in an image online or in a magazine. I get all, “Ooh, so pretty! I want to do that!” It seems so simple too.  Throw on a pair of black pants and something with cobalt blue in it and make the shoes and clutch match. A statement necklace completes it.  Much like putting pen to paper I am not that wonderful in executing it in fashion terms. Or at least not taking photos of it. I end up with this version of color blocking instead.

Then I go through a long day and decide not to do touch-ups and just take the damn photo already. Screw magic hour and its golden light.  Say what about a hair brush?  I’ll just crop my head out. Easy peasy.  Photos taken by 7 year-old and I’m out.

WAIT! Did I forget to put the purse in the picture?  Yes, I did.

yellow purse I carried this bag around with me all day as I worked, ran errands, took the kids places and shoved snacks and what not into the bag.  Did I mention that I love this bag?  I totally do.  So maybe, the color block thing worked after all.

    Super cute! I need to do color more. I’m khaki/navy/black, but rarely add in the POP. Its so easy, so why don’t I? Thanks for the inspiration!

    Jenni, I used to be in the “KNB” club too. Then I worked with a woman who wore a lot of color beautifully all the time and I jumped in slowly. After reading a lot of fashion blogs for a few years I find my closet is now packed with color. LOVE IT! I say this after just purchasing a pair of black pants, necklace, boots and white shirt. Ha.
