The Back to School Chevy Challenge

Yes, I’m talking about going back to school.  I am so excited about it too!  Here’s why-

I’ve teamed up with Chevy and their Back to School Challenge to give one lucky, local reader a chance to win a $100 gift card for back to school supplies for their kids!

Trust me, when I say I know how much this can do for a family.  When TD was just out of school in June (only last month!) I shelled out $52 for just one kid and her first grade school supplies.  In the next few years I will easily be spending $100 and more when all three girls are in school.  Those supplies did not count back packs or lunch boxes either.

If you are a single parent and you can’t afford to purchase the school supplies your child needs, I want to hear from you!  I want to know how this $100 gift card from TMC and Chevy will make a difference in you and your kids lives.  If you know of someone whose child could benefit from this gift then please nominate them here in TMC’s comment section.  One special winner will get a free back to school shopping trip (with me) to purchase much-needed school supplies!

Instructions to Enter to Win-

1. You must be a D.C., Maryland or Virginia resident to enter.   You can nominate a DMV resident too. Just use the comment section to do it.

2.  Deadline to enter is August 6, 2012.  I will pick a winner and announce it here on August 8, 2012.

On top  of that I will take the winner shopping for school supplies and then we will head over to donate filled backpacks as part of the Central Union Mission Operation Backpack 2012,” on August 9.

So, let’s get started! Let’s end the summer on a great note and start a child (or children) off on their 2012-2013 school year right!!

Hey friend! I love what you and Chevy are doing with this contest….so very important and so helpful for families! I would like to nominate a friend and neighbor for this contest who is a single mom with three kids–twins going to grade one and a daughter going to be a sophomore. Thanks!,

Thanks, Lauren. I don’t think remarried counts as single, though. We’re broke, yes, but at least I have help with my boys that allows me to work outside the home. xox

I would like to nominate a good friend of mine who is a single mom. She lost her job over a year ago and was not able to find another. Since then, she has started up her own business to try to provide for her and her daughter. Recently her car broke down and would cost more to fix than it’s worth. Without a reliable income she is having trouble getting financed. And even though she does not have much money, she is always trying to help out anybody in need by donating things she has, but not longer uses/needs. I know an extra $100 would really help ease the stress of buying clothes for her daughter this school year.
